Just read a snippet of a story about schools supposedly interested in joining the Atlantic 10. Creighton was one of them? Really?

Why would they consider the A10 an upgrade over the MVC? I find both conferences to be very similar. Both are at the top of the mid-majors with a couple of teams every year that have the ability to make it to the Sweet 16.

Butler to the A10 makes sense, but for Creighton this seems like a lateral move, at best, to me.

A10 is turning into the place for the private, religious or small schools with a basketball focus, so it makes a lot of sense to be quite honest. Personally, I've always wanted the MVC to move to the point where all of the members have football participation -- I hate the whole MVC and then MVFC nonsense.

Look they are the darlings of the conference. As long as they are the love of the commish you will not see them leave. They along with the chokers get so much preferential treatment in this league that they would never get in any other league that they wouldn't think about it. Hell I heard they are thinking about renaming the scottrade center the Dougie Dorm so the entire MVC can love him as much as the bluejay fans and the commish do.

The Jays have had this treatment for so long that I doubt they even realize it exists by now. Creighton and its fans just assum that the preferential treatment will be there for the pride of Omaha. And there has been little to prove them wrong.

though I can't disagree with you the treatment of Creighton...I would suggest that is because they understand the concept of development. Developing relationships and making those relationships work for them...required in the private world, not in the state funded world as much...Just sayin'

And that's why I hope they do it. Creighton has a ridiculious financial advantage over the rest of the MVC schools.

if all this pans out the Summit league will be gone, lots of Bison fans talking sucking it up and heading west to the all sports Big Sky Conf, its gaining steam and I dont like it.

but thats what happens to schools like us that come late to the game

Will be interesting to see what becomes of all this, personally if CU does leave I think the first bid would go to Murray State, then UW-M or Valpo. However if CU leaves the blockade (CU,MSU, ISUr and WSU,that is so heavily against the XDSU's would be weaker so the other presidents may want to look there.

Western Kentucky would be good but wont leave due to playing Div I football (fbs). Would also love to add St Louis but doubt they would want to leave A 10. Valpo would work or the league could decide to add a school like Western Illinois that already plays football in our conference and has a central location compared to other possible teams.

South Dakota State is just to darn far away, would not be in favor of bringing them in.

My vote would be Murray State or Valpo

If you add SLU then the tourney would have to move. So then you are looking at Chicago or KC. I don't mind SDSU as they aren't Canada but NDSU pretty much is. Another school worth looking at might be Arkansas State or Middle Tennessee. Obviously these aren't my most desirable selection but we have to play someone. If we want to get really created and reach out there then we could open up all the way east to VCU and ODU.

Was listening to Indianapolis sports talk on the way home and they spoke on the A10 stuff. They mentioned Butler, VCU and George Mason are all being considered. Creighton would have to seek the A10 out it appears.

I re-read that Milwaukee article again...

I'd put money on a school from the CAA before Creighton; with Geo Mason or VCU being the choice.

Rhode Island is leaving the CAA Football Conference for the Northeast.

Is that just the football program or are they leaving the Atl-10 as well?

Better think ....

The whole tone on this thread is the MVC would be better off without Creighton -- better think about that one boys .............Yes they have a great $$$ advantage and can be a bit snobbish.

But they get the MVC on NATIONAL TV and that expousure helps everyone in the league -- even ISU. Don't think Valpo will be putting the CBS or ESPN folks on the sidelines anytime soon.

And the whole perception of the MVC has to be helped when folks around the nation see 18,000 fans in that arena.

And you'd be losing a pretty large (for the MVC) media market in Omaha. Older folks might remember when the MVC had Lousiville, St. Louis, Cinninati, Memphis -- put those media markets back into the MVC today and see how often national TV shows up -- much much more.

Probably a mathematical impossibility for ISU (and other MVC schools) to match the $$$ Creighton and WSU have for their programs (and no football to pay for either -- STOP ! I love ISU football but it does force us to spread our money around).

I don't think CBS is covering Arch Madness without Creighton and WSU in the league -- I don't think ISU appears on ESPN 5- 6 times this year without them in the league.

Let's not be too quick to show them the door or celebrate if they do leave -- all of the MVC will pay the price if that happens.
