looking at results, ISU and Purdue were even after 1-2, Purdue's 3-4-5 came in right in front of ISU's 3-4-5, ISU had a pretty big drop off after 5, gonna have to close the gap from 2-3 when the big meets come around. Still a good effort on a hot day in West Lafayette

the women need to close their gap between 3-5 also, it's still early in the season, plenty of time to do better.

Yeah that wasn't the type of effort we were hoping for that's for sure... That is a momentum killer is what that is. Pretty poor performance if you ask me. I am pretty sure that IU didn't even run the heavy hitters.

McNichols said the guys were tired, they have 2 weeks until the ND meet, that should go a little better, the comp. there will be much tougher.

IU didn't run Poore or Turner, Hardacre ran the open race, he may be redshirting though.

I don't really care what coach said... That was a poor showing and that's all I really have to say about that. You are running against IU, PU and others you ought to be able to come up with a little better team effort than that. I guess we will see in the coming weeks whether they were tired or whether this was an indicator of how this year's season is going to play out.

I guess the question you'd have to ask yourself is, was yesterday just a bad day - or is this team just not deep enough to make a run at the National meet?

Check the calendar, it's the middle of September. I don't have any problem with them running relatively close to IU/Purdue in a meet with low significance, why do you?

In the big picture, the only meets that affect their at-large status are ND, Pre-Nats, and the Regionals. I'm sure the team knows this, and I'm sure that Coach McNichols prepares the team with this knowledge.

True - in the past we have preformed well at this meet and then been no place to be found at the end of the season. We will see how it plays out. Fact is, if you want to make the national meet then IU is a team that you are probably going to need to beat.

Consider this - they didn't run their best team (we did) and they still beat us. Don't think our guys (most of whom I am still friends with) don't realize that. I am not being negative, just telling it the way it is.

In the grand scheme of things you are correct, this meet doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot. However I'd rather have won the meet and not had this conversation - that's why I have a problem with it I guess.

The gap between the top 5 and the 6/7 runners is somthing to think about, but I agree with Mark that it's way too early to get overly concerned about the team's performance. They'll peak when it counts.

I'll be interested to see where ISU sits in the next regional ranking, though. Beating Butler was nice, but losing to Purdue might have negated an opportunity to move up.

Incidentally, IU didn't run Bayer either.

Really nothing to worry about. Last year at this meet IU straight embarrassed ISU at home. Then at regionals it was the other way around. I know a few of them have been sick this week (One being Al). Purdue is a much improved team and will be one to watch out for, but I think the guys should handle them later in the season.
