How high do you think the guys will have to place to have a shot at making the NCAA meet as an at-large selection....3rd, maybe 4th? Sure would be nice to see them running in their last home meet of the season!

Do they run an eighth guy at regionals? If so who will it be for ISU? Freshman Zach Miller ran really well at the Hoosier Invitational last Friday (25:40-ish), but I don't know if he's officially red-shirting.

I think they'll need to be 3rd at worst. Although pre-nats was not a bad race, I don't think they picked off any key teams. The meet didn't hurt them, but it didn't help them. If they're worse than 3rd, I suspect someone who has beaten them earlier in the season (think ND) will get a spot in the final 31.

Each team runs 7.

It is not solely on place, however. If they got fourth or fifth but beat a team like say IU who has a lot of points then there is still a good chance they would go because IU would pull them in. So while they need to be third to be pretty sure they would go, it is definitely possible to finish lower and still make it to Nationals. It is all about who you beat.

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure since they ran 8 guys at the MVC meet.

See you there. The Bally has a beer tent at this event, right?

I think the Gibson family should consider buying some adjacent farmland, and make it available for pregame tailgating.

I don't think it's been a great year for the GL region. Once you get beyond Wisconsin it's a real crapshoot. I think the region will be lucky to get any more than four teams into the meet. Just my 2 cents.

that'd be my guess too, I'd say if they're in the top 5 they have a shot, but top 4 would be better and it depends on who they beat in the GL meet Saturday. I think IU and Wisconsin go 1-2, maybe ND 3rd, then after that who knows. Maybe MSU, EMU, and OSU will have bad races and ISU can sneak into that 4th spot.

Also depends on how the other regionals go.

If the Sycamores run like they did at MVC then they are going to mix it up pretty good, in boxing terms - they got a fighters chance of making the NCAA's! I'd guess they will not go down without a fight, they know what's at stake... They read the message boards, they know everyone is counting them out. Motivation! Good Luck Sycamores!

here's a preview of each region from Ryan Grote...He likes ISU in the Great Lakes regional

I love his jab at the Domer football team:

3. NOTRE DAME (#27)- Good thing Tulsa and Navy aren't in this region.

I hope his prediction about the Trees comes true! :sycamores:
