Sycamore Family,

We hope you had a safe and enjoyable 4th of July holiday!

In 2022, Crossroad of Champions was established to support our student-athletes in the ever-evolving landscape of NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness). In light of the recent approval of the House v. NCAA settlement, Indiana State Athletics and the Division of University Advancement are excited to announce the transition of Crossroad of Champions to the Indiana State University Foundation.

This transition means that contributions to Crossroad of Champions will now be tax-deductible for our donors and fans.

Fans can support Sycamore student-athletes and help Indiana State build championship-caliber programs by directing their contributions to Crossroad of Champions. Gifts can be designated to a sport-specific program of your choosing.

We would also like to recognize John Newton, Todd Hein, James Twitchell, and the Crossroad of Champions committee for their dedication to establishing and developing what it has become today. We look forward to continuing our work with this outstanding group to expand our donor base and support the special events our community has come to love.

Sycamore Athletics and the Division of University Advancement remain committed to academic and athletic excellence. Your gifts to Crossroad of Champions will provide critical, unrestricted support for our student-athletes.

For many of you on here that are monthly donors you probably have received an e-mail or will be receiving an e-mail that you need to resubscribe AGAIN... Just wanted to say thanks for your support of COC and sorry for the inconvenience of having to go in and resubscribe.

When we moved every thing away from the previous company and over to RJL - we really didn't anticipate the legislation moving so quickly (or if at all for that matter). In hindsight, I am not sure that we would have done anything differently. We had to move COC forward under the impression that all things were going to remain constant - when I got involved it was very clear that we needed to fire the company that was operating our COC website, was handling all of our contracts and handling our donors money. So we did just that in moving everything over to RJL as quickly as possible - most everyone that was donating previously graciously resubscribed and we saw significant growth in our monthly and annual base once the dust settled - which was necessary and great!

Now that the Foundation is handling these funds - they are tax deductible which is great and hopefully we don't need people to resubscribe yet again for the foreseeable future. Thanks again for your contributions and understanding!

Because Crossroad of Champions previously operated as a separate entity, we will need to transition your monthly credit card payments to the ISU Foundation. Please follow the steps below to manually complete this process:

  1. Click on the following link: Crossroad of Champions
  2. Select "Recurring Donation" at the top.
  3. Enter your contribution amount. If your preferred amount isn’t listed, you may select "Other Amount" to enter a custom donation.
    1. Please note that your first installment will be charged on the day you complete the form. The Next Payment On will be the day the recurring payment occurs.
  4. Specify the sport to which you'd like to allocate your contribution.
Once you've entered your billing and payment information, you will receive an email confirmation indicating that your previous monthly payments have been canceled and that your new donation has been successfully set up with the Foundation. From there, we will cancel your old subscription. If the old charge still goes through, please advise and we will refund.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We sincerely appreciate your support of Indiana State Athletics and our Sycamore student-athletes.

March On!

To clarify... any donation is tax deductible but all NIL deals are taxable?

I’m not a cpa, but you either take the standard deduction, or if your contributions exceed the standard deduction, then you itemize your deductions.
So it really isn't tax deductible. Last year was the first time since I was in my 20's that I didn't itemize and I donated more money than ever to various organizations.

No, they're deductible - but if you don't itemize, deductions are just a topic of discussion
