"It's likely to be the swan song for DBU, apart from its participation in the conference tournament at Missouri State. On Thursday, d1baseball.com reported that DBU, an associate MVC member, will be leaving the conference to join Conference USA for the 2023 season."

We close our home schedule against them May 19-21...

It’s disappointing to see them leave but geographically, this makes sense for them. They are a very respectable program and has one of the nicer facilities in the league. Going to miss them in the MVC. Wish them best of luck moving forward.

I will not miss them. As a program that spends almost nothing on any other sport and pours much of its resources into baseball, it creates a very uneven field. I will be perfectly happy with the MVC in 2023 without them.

Kind of off topic; but does any one else feel like our RPI is pretty darn high when comparing our results this season?

Our RPI is currently 72, we are 20-9 with the 161st toughest schedule so far.

We are currently 5-2 against teams with better RPIs than us and 15-7 against teams with worst. Our worst loss is to #148 (x2) Ohio state. The only thing I can think of is we don't have any signature wins. That last series against DBU could be massive if we take care of business leading up too it.

The MVC baseball conference is a better conference with them in it. They make us a legit two bid league every year and we are competitive with them so we should not want to see them go. I enjoy the competition and would visit their campus to catch a game if I was in the area ever again. Highly respectful program, coach, and players.

We’ve unfortunately dropped some games to teams that are underperforming.

Like, they should run away with the conference every year. No more associate member bullshit.

I mentioned it in the Around the MVC thread, but I am sort of wondering if the MVC Office might have encouraged them to try to find a new home since they are such a geographical outlier. They were nice to have around when we only had 7 full time members with baseball, but next season we will have 10 full time baseball members.

I'm fine with them leaving. Basically promotes us to the top team in the conference year in and year out. So....thank you Creighton, Wichita State, and DBU!

Selfishly, I liked DBU in the league because I live in Dallas, but this makes sense to me. We have 10 schools now that play baseball, and DBU can go dominate another conference now.

Here's the CUSA DBU is joining post-realignment.
