The All-MVC Level
It not well played!
ISU used its second-half defense to carry the day, trumping offensive hiccups the Sycamores had along the way.
An 18-1 second-half run felled the Shockers in the MVC semifinals, and ISU didn’t allow a field goal by the Bears in the first 10 minutes, 41 seconds of the second half in the championship game. Similarly, the 16-2 run against Vanderbilt had its foundation in clamp-down defense.
It’s the way ISU wins. It might not always be pretty, but it works for them.
“The way we won wasn’t perfect. We had a couple of stretches with turnovers and bad shots, but we stuck together. In every huddle, we kept saying, ‘Stick together as a team, play defense and run a patient offense.’ Just the way we fought all the way through shows our progress,” ISU guard Jordan Printy said.
