Illinois State is 7-4 but they play Quincy so I'm just going to go ahead and give them that win. Will be interesting to see how we play in conference. Not sure we'll have played such a physical big like Lynch this year so will be interesting to see if Kitch/Bell/Murphy are up for the challenge.

This game is on Chicago comcast sportsnet and espn3. The eternal optimist in me is excited the conference season is here. Clean slate. The realist is all, "Oh dear."

Hopefully we can sneak up on a few teams. We've played so poorly that at some point we should just relax and play. We've got nothing to lose at this point.

I agree. It feels like this is an entirely new season and anything is possible, but nothing we've seen up to this point gives any real reasons for optimism on our chances in MVC play. I hope to be pleasantly surprised, but I'm not holding my breath. It's also really tough to start conference play on the road, and the Redbirds are a fairly decent team.

I've seen some promising things that to me can lead to growth through the conference. Scott is turning out to be a real baller. If he can just cut down on the TO's, he should be a real keeper. Prusator knocking down shots should help too. Gant isn't gonna step up. He's hit his peak. If Khristian can start playing better through the conference, he'll make this team a hell of a lot better. I honestly look forward to next year's ball club because Scott should be starting at point and he'll have a solid year under his belt. I also remember the team saying that Van Syc is the best 3 point shooter on this team. That should really help us. I originally thought Bell would be gone after this year but to see him improving like he has, I'm satisfied so far. I'm not worried about our record as SSOM has said, there are 3 seasons. We should focus on getting better every game and then killing them during the MVC tourney.

The Redbirds forte appears to be rebounding and blocks & steals on the defensive end. Not exactly areas our Sycamores excel in. ISU wins this one 75-60..........the red one.

Here's a quote from Golden's preview...

"We have to get Brenton, Tre and Alex and these other guys to know that Khristian has to get a touch, Justin [Gant] has to get a touch. If they give it up after that, then they can make their play," Lansing said.

Based on this, I'm going to pay attention to each possession to see if KSmith and/or JGant is getting a touch each time down the court. Because if not, then that tells me guys aren't listening to coach. And that's a major problem. (the only caveat being if we win by 40 points)

Coach has to try something but given his inconsistency from game to game, not to mention from play to play over four years, how many times do you go to Gant and watch him lose it on the dribble, bang it like a tennis ball off the backboard or just plain miss a bunny. I don't envy Lansing at all in trying to find a solution for all the problems with this team.

Honestly, not nearly as many times as other players.

looking at the redbird board, it seems that they have multiple starters out for todays game or at least they think they will be out. can anyone shed some light on this?
