Not excited about either one and would MUCH prefer to have a midwest school over a east or west team. That said, I can only imagine that most of us feel the same way and that when they start tabbing teams for the MVC, we may not be happy. I have never been a huge fan of the Mo Val so I am going to be hard to please. If those two names are what RP and Elgin and the gang are excited about......well-- I'll have what they are having.

Agreed, all the way around.

Hope you don't mind, I added a "Neither" option. I hope to hell this isn't the best Elgin could come up with.

If I absolutely had to choose, I would go with Belmont. That is only if I had to chose. Would rather throw both of them back and try to reel in a bigger fish. I'm willing to risk that.

beggars can't be choosers, it's not like we're going to add St. Louis, Butler, Dayton, Tulsa, New Mexico State, etc....

what other schools do you all expect the MVC to seriously consider? Valpo? UI-C? Loyola-Chicago? Oral Roberts?

Remember, whoever the MVC adds will be a private school that will more than likely need to be somewhat strong in basketball and have (or be willing to add) baseball.

There simply aren't that many options IMO

I vote we add both AND Murray State

Denver does not have baseball.....AND they have three sports that no other MVC schools has....Lacrosse, Hockey, and Skiing.

I would be happier with Valpo (who has a decent baseball program) than either Belmont or Denver. Would be fine with Murray State.

this was on the WAC board, where Denver fans post, not sure how much this means?

Before, Denver joined the Summit, I talked with one of the Associate ADs who said that for the right offer that Denver would add sports other that football, if needed to join the right long term conference. The MVC is definitely one of Denver's top choices: WCC and MVC have always been the two top choices for Denver's final landing spot. We had a pretty good baseball program when I was at Denver in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
I hope that they will spend the money for baseball, softball and cross country inorder to get a long term home so we can finally build to long term conference rivalries

so it sounds as though they are waiting for the right conference to come calling before they'll add sports

Neither would be much better than either. Don't take either of them just to take in someone to fill a slot.

it will not be Denver folks

Jays would get no sympathy from me if a starter gets banged up too much to play tomorrow. No reason to play them in the last 10 minutes. Bad coaching.

McDermott is still PO'd from getting his @$$ handed to him in The Haute! After today's game; I could give two :censored: if I every see a creighton cretan again. especially that :censored: echenique --- good riddance. as to lil' doogie mcdermott; can't believe the refs let him use that chicken wing ALL day... good riddance. had to chuckle at the yapping heads calling HIM the best in the country...

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

if those are the two choices.... belmont but ONLY because it's a shorter commute. i think Bobby Heaton is the ONLY person who'd vote for Denver

Valpo is my first; than a tie between detroit, loyola-IL or belmont with belmont a DISTANT 3rd/4th/5th.
loyola would have to add baseball though... as would detroit.

the other horizon schools are too far and iupui and ipfw are too ridiculous to even discuss.

That is one of the reasons why Creighton struggled when they went out west to St. Mary's and got it handed to them. Dougie picked up a few fouls early that he would never get called for in league play. Elgin must not have faxed the memo quick enough to the WCC officials.

He is a very good college player who uses his brains to off set his lack of natural quickness or strength, but you will never be able to convince a Creighton fan how much he gets away with. They actually think he gets fewer calls than anyone in the league.
