Congrats to Captain Downtown Devonte Brown! And congrats to Tre Bennett for making the All Bench Team!

DDB! Well deserved, pretty proud of the leap he has made this year!

I have been very critical of him as a player (not personal) throughout his career. I thought he would be our best player this year, but I also thought that spelled TROUBLE for us.

Brown has had his moments, but for the most part has had a darn good year and played much better than I thought he would. He is a player that I love to hate, meaning when he is good he is really good and when he is bad he is really bad... I will take it, I love the energy and effort he has always played with!

He has won me over this year, I don't give him near the amount of grief I used too. For those that thought when his career started he was going to be a good one I think its safe to say he has realized what many of you envisioned.

If that means I was wrong, then in the long run I was wrong. It wasn't instant success and it took awhile for him to find himself. But first team most improved and second team all Valley - feel free to gloat, he and you all earned it!

Much respect Brown!

Good post. I try to see "potential" in them when they are FR-SO but it's hard not to be optimistic and project greatness since I'm such a fan. But you really need to be patient and give them a couple of years. And in DBB's case, this is his 4th year.

That's why I tend do jump on people that trash 1st-2nd year players, like some did with Murphy or Bennett this year. Of course, I don't know how hard they are working or their attitudes, so I can't make any "totally informed" predictions.

As far as Bennett and Bell, and I would throw AE in there; I think they have progressed and I'm not sorry that they will be on the roster next year.

I noticed AE has started to move with the ball now some. He has gotten himself into trouble some, but if he can handle with the stroke and athletic ability he has, he has a lot of upside.

I did the math earlier today...Brown needs 325 points to reach 1,000 for career. This past season he scored more than 325 and averaged 11 a game.
Thanks for the info, I'll pass it on to him. However, I heard it through the grapevine that his number one goal is Conference Championship, then NCAA Tournament.

All roads run through Wichita for that conference championship. Hopefully the reigning most improved player and his teammates are putting in the work required to be at their level, because they should be as talented as ever. Honestly the top 6 teams in the league should be very competitive and capable of 20+ wins and an ncaa tourney birth. Should be a fun year in the valley.

Also speaking of the tourney..now that kitch is gone we have nobody left from our last team that went dancing... Perfect year to change that If you ask me!

Conference will be very interesting this year. That's going to make Non-Conference schedule that more important. We've gotta come out of the gate hitting on all cylinders.

One thing I know is that Devonte Brown is putting in the work that is required to be relevant this season.[emoji123]
