I'm sorry, I may be a little out of touch, what with 4 young kids, a 50 hour a week job, etc. What or who is Dougie?

is there an article posted somewhere?

Ok, gotcha! now I can vote in the poll. And I can tell all of you that "Dougie" is not LB and never will be LB and could never even come close to being LB and the comparison paints LB as a mediocre player back in college and we all know that is not the case!!!!

LB lead the Sycamores to the national championship, he was player of the year and we all know what happened after that! Dougie will probably make it to the NBA, and play 3-4 seasons and then retire. He is a decent player..sure but he is NOT Larry Bird! He doesn't hussle like Larry, he doesn't play defense like Larry, he doesn't make the players around him better like Larry...I could go on and on! The only thing that is similar is that they are white...and since that doesn't matter, there is no comparison!

Someone is always looking for the next great white basketball player.McDermott is a very good player but his all round game doesn't compare to Larry. He was a once in a lifetime player,Doug's not.

Without even going into comparing McDermott to Bird, consider the originator of the comparison, "Digger"....he's a dumbass!!

And Creighton has a much better team and program than Larry had at ISU. Just the truth. Different era though. Agree the comparison is pointless, but if you're going to use it, don't use for some above average kid at Creighton.

What separates McDermott from LB is "instinct"...LB had a "naturally programmed" computer two decades before the concept became popular, while most of McDermott's actions are pre-programmed/learned. Bird also had the ability to innovate a play & create something from nothing.

Digger hasn't changed since '79...he and Peckerhead (Billy Packer) were two of the eternal pessimists that season re: ISU.

Funny how TIME prejudices REALITY in favor of the present...

You know what I'd like to see? When ISU plays Creighton @ HC this season, the "Forest" have pics of LB wearing "shades" to symbolize Digger's distortion. Maybe also show some video clips of LB on the screen to REMIND Creighton fan's of the truth on this matter.

You mention the best basketball player in America in 1979 and Larry Bird will be in the top 2. You mention the bast basketball player in American in 2013 and Doug McDermott will not be mentioned.

No so sure I agree with that, most have him 2nd behind Zeller. Is Doug as good as Bird? Prolly not, the kid is however very good offensively and has a nose for the ball like no one I have ever seen.

You must've never seen LB in college...;)

Part of having a "nose for the ball" is court awareness - instinctively (without precognition) being @ the hub of primary activity. LB's creative passing
represents the essence of this idea. Dougie doesn't come close to the concept...

Remember Dougie is playing for Daddy therefore he is their first offensive weapon because daddy says he is . To compare him to 33 is the most retarded thing I haev heard . The only thing they have in common is they are about the same height and White.

He'd be a 15-20ppg kid anywhere he went. He is extremely skilled.

Agree, but does he have the ability to TAKE OVER a game because of his skill package? Don't think so...

So any 6'8 white player who can average 15-20 ppg is now compared to LB. Have seen this crap to often . Can he score points? Yes to the tune of Larry ? No can he pass like Larry? no
Look he is the latest to get the comparison . He is the conference poster child. He gets more calls than anyone in the league. Do i blame him for taking advantage of it nope. Wish he played here. Just not ready to hand over the crown to dougie . LB is the greatest player this conference had ever seen. Until daddys boy can achieve the numbers and success that Larry has there is no comparing the 2

While swimming laps today, the following thought came to mind - looks like MVC/Creighton media are using the Bird comparison to halo Dougie's national rise to fame. How many in the media actually saw Bird @ ISU?

Personally, I like McDermott...good all-around kid, but forget the LB comparison & let him carve his own niche in NCAA hoop. Are ya listening, Digger?
