Not sure if anyone can confirm or deny this report. But it is my understanding that Nick Donaldson and Keenan Barlow will not be Indiana State Sycamores next season. I have heard that Barlow is considering transferring to a D2 school... Not sure if this can be confirmed by anyone at this point?

Why are they leaving? As walk-ons, it's not like they were demanding more playing time?
Is the MBB budget that low that State cannot 'afford' to keep them around for practice depth, certain game situations? Character issues?
I get that we all want to win and if they're on scholarship but as walk-ons, what's the damage/harm?

I think we all expected that, didn't we?

I don't know, we did expect that? lol That's interesting because I can't recall any post on here saying that we expected those 2 guys to leave. I guess I was not expecting it... Don't get me wrong I am not blown away by it or anything. I was just posting what I believed to be true. It would be news pertaining to this team....

no schock

No shock at all. If they want to play, then they are doing the right thing going D2. With the Eitel twins coming in as walk ons, there is no worries as far as practice depth. Good luck to both of them.

Good luck to them

If they are leaving, I would like to thank for them for their contributions. I hope it was a good experience for them being a Sycamore. Playing time is going to be tougher to get next year. Some day, they can tell their grandkids that they played division 1 basketball.

Little Eddie, do you know if this was this on their own accord? To see playing time elsewhere?

I am not Little Eddie... lol Obviously he is going to have a little more credibility here than I (as he should). But my understanding is that they both did leave on their own accord.

I liked both of them and their enthusiasm on the bench, if you watched the 2nd half of the thrilling win at Illinois State those 2 were going nuts with enthusiasm every time ISU hit a 3. It was great to see the 2 of them cheering over there. I hope they do well wherever they go! Good luck!

This is one of those circumstances where it looks like I'm one of the last to know (very good Del Amitri song by the way.)

I haven't confirmed it yet...busy at work.

I only meant that due to the fact that walkons are usually year-to-year, they wouldn't expect any PT, and it's a Lot of work when you're just playing for fun and trying to get an education.

ahhh indeed... Yeah I am not really surprised by it. I was just trying to figure out if this had been mentioned before. I didn't think it had that's the only reason I posted it.

Sports Celrbities

As I am sure you know, both Barlow and Donaldson are from sports celebrity families. Barlow's father Ken was a star at Notre Dame and a first round NBA draft choice. I also think Keenan is related to Bob Jewell, the Crispus Attucks star of the early 1950s. Jewell played as a freshman at Michigan but returned to Indianapolis to join Bailey Robertson, Oscar's older brother, on a couple of Angus Nicosin's great teams at Indiana Central (now University of Indianapolis).

Donaldson's father played over 15 years in the NFL and is probably going to be inducted into the Football Hall of Fame soon. He's a big man; I saw him at several games. he was a center and went to college at Georgia.

Not that it matters

Were they sent away or did they choose to leave for more playing time; homesickness, academics?

Again, if walk-ons are willingn to put in the time, effort, hustle and are not locker room cancers, why send them away.

Just my $0.02

Sometimes, and I know this has been an issue in the past at ISU, the administration doesn't want so many people on the men's basketball team. Whether they are on scholarship or not hasn't mattered. Perhaps that's part of the issue here...

ITF -- Really? At times nothing the State administration does surprises me but I can't believe the cost of 13 kids (all on scholarships) is that much greater than 13 scholarships and 4 walk-ons...

Who knows; at long as the seperation was friendly / both parties content, so be it. I'm a fan of letting the coaches run things until they assault players, officials, school staff, fans in elevators...
