Lot of real spectacular places in this country of ours. A lot of different option on whether you like the touristy places/cities or going to the middle of nowhere.

San Francisco - Bay, Bridge, RedWoods, Alcatraz, Cable Cars, Napa Valley, Pacific ocean, China Town, etc. You will NEVER run out of things to do in this city. Amazing culture.

Zion Natinoal Park - Underrated national park. Things there that are nowhere else on this continent.

Rocky Mountain/Yellowstone - You could spend weeks there and not get tired of the sites & wildlife.

Kansas City - Brother lived there for a few years. Small town feel in a big city. LOVED the neighborhoods, parks, and homes.

Gatlinburg - Awesome spot for a cheap family getaway (if you stay in a cabin). But, who hasn't been to gatlinburg???

One place that i've never been but would love to check out in the next few years is the New England area. Anybody have any suggestions or must-dos for that part of the country?

Ozark Highlands Trail in Arkansas - all 160 mile of it. Going to backpack it in late March - hopefully will finish in 10 days.

I lived in the Boston area for three years.

Especially if you like the outdoors, it'll be very easy to find GREAT destinations in New England.

I'll start with the smallest state...

Rhode Island: Amazing mansions from the Gilded Age in Newport tour em: https://www.discovernewport.org/things-to-do/mansions/
RI also offers many Whale Watching excursions.

Massachusetts: where to begin, so many options. BOSTON, you could spend several days alone in eastern Massachusetts with all the historical tours and such. Freedom Trail, The Battle Road (between Lexington and Concord), Cape Cod, the North Shore. Or travel to central Mass to Springfield for the Basketball Hall of Fame. And in western Mass, you've got the Bershire Mountains.

New Hampshire: The White Mountains....many 4,000+ footers, amazing hiking: https://www.outdoors.org/trip-ideas-tips-resources/plan-your-trip/nh-4000-footers

Vermont: looking to get away from corporate America...go to Vermont. Wonderful hiking in The Green Mountains. Maple Syrup galore.

Maine: Acadia National Park, holy moly it's amazing, on the coast. Or Baxter State Park in North Central Maine...deep woods, and it has Mt. Katahdin which is the highest peak in the state and the Northern Terminus of the Appalachian Trail.

Connecticut: The northeast part of the state is known as The Quiet Corner, and it's the most New Englandy part of Connecticut... https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entr...cuts-northeast-no_us_5911f964e4b07e366cebb647

And of course there's Plymouth Rock, All the Lighthouses up and down the New England Coast, Fenway Park, Harvard and Yale, scenic drives, historic Inns. People are friendly, but initially they're a little stand-off-ish..it ain't the Midwest :)

No doubt "Treetop" has a great list for you in New England -- love it !
Maine -- Acadia National Park -- go to top of Mt. Cadillac I think its called ...Wow !
Whole park and coast is great

Cape Cod -- pretty cool, touristy but try Chatham right on the "elbow" --- nice little town

Block Island -- off coast of Rhode Island -- probably my top recommendation. And you can hit Newport also easily.

Basketball Hall of Fame is great too

Mountains of Vermont & NH -- very nice --try the Kamcamous Highway (no way I spelled that right, but easy to find on map) -- goes across New Hampshire

Tons of history stuff and the coast everywhere is very nice

Mystic Seaport -- re-created fishing village -- cool

Zapata, Texas wasn’t the nicest place I’ve been on earth and fishing was pretty slow. Probably won’t be going back...

This summer I want to make a trip up to Mackinac Island in Michigan - heard nothing but good things and maybe Traverse City.

In the good ole USA, I give the nob to my 2nd home of Minnesota. 10,000 lakes to fish on. Pan fish, small and large mouth bass, Walleyes, northernpike in water so clear you can see 15 feet down. And nothing can beat the call of a common loon at sunset!!!!

Seriously, drive the Oregon coast. Very beautiful. Take a side trip to the Noti pub in Noti, OR for a good lunch.
Southwestern Colorado in the fall when the aspen leaves are turning is breathtaking. Drive Denver to Phoenix via Four Corners.
Wrigley Field and Indianapolis Motor Speedway are two of my favorite places on earth, besides home.
