Sounds like we are taking the 2 daughters to see this game. I assume 1 of us 4 will watch the game and ill be watching the 2yo the entire time.

I have been looking forward to this game every since our loss in Des Moine. One thing is for sure, we won't have to worry about underestimating the Bulldogs based on their record.

If the team is looking for payback half as much as I am, then we should be just fine.

Definitely agree. A little payback is in order, for sure.

I heard on the sports tonight that Justin suffered a concussion last night and may not be able to play Saturday.

My daughter is getting married Saturday therefore I will not be able to attend .
i'm sick and tired of all these fair weathered fans ISU has!!

but in all seriousness, we should win come out firing for this one based on the fact that it will be a revenge game for our guys.

The Indiana State Sycamores continue the Missouri Valley Conference slate as they return home on Saturday, February 14 to take on Drake inside Hulman Center. The game is set for a 4:07 p.m. (ET) tip-off and can be heard locally on 95.9 FM The Duke as well as online via a link on GoSycamores.com. This is the 119th season of intercollegiate basketball at Indiana State University. The game will be televised nationally on the MVC TV Network which consists of several Fox Sports Networks, Comcast Chicago and ESPN3 (outside of the league's footprint). The Sycamores are 12-13, 8-5 MVC following a loss at nationally-ranked Wichita State. The Bulldogs are 8-17, 5-8 MVC and are currently tied for sixth place in the league with Loyola.

One aspect of this year's team that has been a pleasant departure has been the catch-and-shoot. For all of the wonderful things that Manny, Cummings, and Odum did, pulling the trigger on off the pass was not one of their strong suits.

Obviously there are pitfalls to our trigger fingers this year when the shots aren't falling, but the driving lanes seem to be a little more open when the threat of the shot off a swing/skip pass is in play.

Really? Cummings wasn't a catch-shoot type player? I beg to differ. And we really aren't that great of a catch and shoot team. The only real catch and shoot players we have are Scott, Ethrington (who has made 2 threes in our last 7 games) and Prusator. Gant has the ability to do that as does Kitch but we rarely look for them off the pick and pop - when our guards are coming off picks they are looking to get in the teeth, they are not looking to kick to Gant and or Kitch in time for them to catch and shoot.

Again, for all of the good things that he and the others mentioned above, I do not consider him a catch-and-shoot guy. He probably hit 50ish or so 3s as a senior, which means he did shoot off the pass, but is that the trademark of his game? I guess I remember (and like his game) for other things. I am thinking he hit about a third of the triples he took.

Scott, Etherington, Prusator, Brown, and probably even Bennett are either in the neighborhood of Cummings (and Arop) as far as % of 3s made. There is no way that Etherington and Pursator will have the attempts to match the production of Dawon and Manny from last year. The suggestion I was making is that perhaps there are more players with the ability / mentality to take the shot off the pass this year.

They might not be going in at the same clip, but it does impact how defenses have to approach and prepare for the boys in blue.

Everyone enjoy the game!

:)

can someone please explain to me the point of espn blocking out games on espn3 in states with MVC teams? i know they black out games in the NFL if they aren't sell outs to get people to buy tickets. but what the point at this level when outside of UNI & Wichita, sellouts just aren't going to happen

We probably have more players this year than we ever have that should shoot the 3 if they are open. I'm not a big fan of the 3, but if you can shoot close to 40%, you have to take it.
Manny and Cummings both shot under 35%. We are shooting over 40 as a team in the conference and 3 of the top 7 players. And we have others that can shoot it well.

I can explain it. It doesn't have to do with selling out the games, it has to do with advertising dollars. If you live in an area that is blacked out on ESPN3, it means that you live in an area in which the game is being carried on television, cable.

The networks it's being carried on (Fox Sports Indiana, Comcast Sports Net, etc) receive money from their advertisers, so the advertisers are all, "Hey we paid good money for this lizard to talk to consumers about the benefits of Geico Insurance and it's bullshit that someone can watch this game in the market we paid for without having to be subjected to our not-so-subliminal attempt at brainwashing...therefore, black that shit out on ESPN3 and force them to watch our little persuasive videos on tv."

And the networks are all, "Yes, master."

So, will we be able to successfully defend the perimeter this time around?

They were 12 of 17 from the 3 point line the first time around. SEVENTY FREAKING PERCENT.

There's no way in hell they shoot >70% from three today. Just no way they can repeat that kind of performance; not on the road.
