I'm a Sycamore fan.

I will root for Butler to win when they're not playing Indiana State, but I'm not a Butler fan. What is even more disturbing/annoying/frustrating/embarassing is how many Indiana State grads have Butler images on Facebook/Twitter and are posting status updates after their wins but sat on their fucking hands when State was running through the season, Valley tournament and into the NCAAs.

Makes me absolutely sick to my stomach.

Don't count me in as a Butler hater, I've been following Butler basketball since at least the Billy Shepherd days, if not before.

Now if ya want to talk about hatin' IU. I'm there. Man do I hate IU. Didn't use to, but do now. Never ever thought I would loathe them, after following them so intensely through the 70's.....but I do.

GO BULLDOGS! WIN THE WHOLE DAMN THING!!!!

I have followed Butler basketball since Dave Sanders played there in the '60s. He lived next door to my great grand mother, and is a great guy. I like the team and the coach. I don't care for the arrogance that is shown by many of their fans and their administration. Good luck Dawgs.

I've been a Butler fan since the likes of AJ Graves.

You do realize this wasn't that long ago? I will say, I am not a Butler fan anymore, I am a tree fan, thru and thru...Do I pull for the dawgs? HELL TO THE YES! My sister is an alumni, and i have followed their basketball team since the likes of Brandon Miller, Darnelle Archie, Joel Cornette, Brandon Polk and Mike Jackson....

Very well said. I hate the expression, "Butler is Indiana basketball." Also their fans/students are so cocky. Wait till the magic runs out and they're 16-15 hoping for a CBI berth.

I give a lot of credit to Butler and their coaching but I have to beleive that their magic = Howard + Mack. You start with two gamers like that at the pivot and point and all you have to do is fill in around them.

Yep, totally agree. Of everything Butler has, that is what I'm envious of. You love to have two hard nosed kids like that. It could also be argued that Howard is Butler's best player ever... this is the Bulldog Larry Bird so to speak IMO.

I grew up 10 minutes from Butler, so by default I'm a Butler supporter...always keeping an eye on the home team.

But there's only one team in which I'll create a profile on their Fan Message Board and post my opinions and other tidbits on the success (or lack thereof) of their season, and that's Indiana State, baby!

And here is one thing that I can say confidently about ISU, if they had similar success as Butler has had the past 10 years, Hulman Center would be packed on a regular basis. Hinkle still struggles with attendance (relatively speaking), they seldom sell out.

I think Butler did 7200 per game last year. They'll do something north of 8000 next season. The post-renovation capacity of Hinkle will be around 8500. It'll be a very difficult ticket for Saturday and/or "big name" opponents (which is effectively the entire OOC schedule)

I don't hate Butler, I just hate all this bandwagon bull:censored:

What really makes me mad is when people who don't follow basketball at all and decide to watch it for 4 weeks.

I hope Butler gets beat by 25 in the Final Four game!

I agree, and will find it interesting to see how Butler does in the future without these two guys. They are really good, and will be hard to replace.

How did you arrive at this conclusion? Butler came within a half-court shot of being the NCAA national champion, yet Hinkle Fieldhouse didn't come within sniffing distance of being regularly sold out this year.

Let's face it; the Butler bandwagon doesn't fill up until tournament time.

Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding!!!!!! + Infinity!!!!

In fairness, I'll say this: I respect and enjoy Butler's style of play. I respect the kind of players they recruit and acknowledge that they seem to be the epitome of what a student-athlete should be. Whatever role he played in dropping ISU from their schedule notwithstanding, I even respect Brad Stevens as Butler's coach.

But am I a Butler fan? Sorry, I'm not jumping on that bandwagon. I don't like 'em, and I don't hate 'em. I...just...don't...care.

If there is any single thing I don't like about "the Butler Way," it's that all the bandwagon fans and every local sports talk guy sees fit to judge the likes of me for not being a fan. "What, you don't back the Bulldogs?! You must have some sort of personality disorder!" :krazy:

Let me get my mind around this....you don't hate Butler, but you want them to lose by 25..... So that's it? Wow, cool.

So you have Butler beating VCU, but losing in the Championship game. That's weird, but whatever melts your net. If you hate 'em that much, why don't you have them losing in the first game?

And how did you come up with 25 points? Dartboard toss, short straw, pick a number out of a hat. What's the method for the 25 points? Very intriguing.

Why not have Butler losing like by 35, 45, or heck...55?

Personally, I think it's more cruel to get beat on a last second shot, then to get thumped and pummelled. That kind of loss lingers forever. You know, your playing around with it forever and ever in your head with the 'what ifs" and such.

Also, I think your "I hope" creativity needs work....

Consequently, I'm going to pretend this was a homework assigment. Your the student, and I'm the teacher. Now here's the bad part, the report card. Your grade is a D+. The D is for participation, and the plus is for timeliness.

The low grade is for lack of visualization, fuzzy details, and contradictory loathing content. The upside is, you did get a passing grade!!!

First of all, there IS a difference between bandwagon and hype. Living in Indy there is the proverbial hype that goes on about Butler with the local media but are they chastising the "masses" for NOT supporting them, NO! Let me state that I am not a Butler "fan" but I am truly excited for their success, jumped up and down when they won yesterday and will root for them to the end. Next November when they start dribbling again, I will not care about Butler basketball that much at all, unless they finally have a game scheduled with us. Because I like the atmosphere in Hinkle, I usually try and go to one of those major games on Saturday afternoons usually once every other year but that does not mean I am a fan either. What you fail to say in those comments about the Indy fans and Butler would be no different if Indiana State had been the lone remaining Indiana school in the tourney. They (the Indy media) hype what is "NOW" and that would be an even bigger story than the Butler one and EVERY sports anchor would be all over us, just like they are with BU..

I agree with what XTXC and SF 317 have said, they respect the program for what it stands for and that's about it. Let's face it, two Final Fours for a mid is VERY unusual and everyone likes an underdog and I am no exception. Will I buy a Butler hat or a sweatshirt. Hell no. They are simply a great story in a great NCAA tourney. And SF317 is also right when he says that VCU is an even bigger story. GO DAWGS (at least for 8 days)!
