Indiana State wasted little time replacing head coach Kevin McKenna by tabbing Sycamores assistant Greg Lansing.

Lansing, according to multiple sources, will be officially introduced at a news conference on Tuesday.

McKenna opted to join new Oregon head coach Dana Altman on his staff as an assistant over the weekend.

Lansing has been the associate head coach at Indiana State since McKenna took over and is in his second stint with the program. He also spent seven seasons at New Mexico as an assistant

The Sycamores were 17-15 this past season – their first winning season since 2001 - despite losing starting guard Jake Kelly to a season-ending knee injury in the league opener.

Great hire!
Greg will be great as a head coach for our program and represent ISU well in the community.
It's great that Ron didn't waste anytime and show his support for Greg. I am looking forward to this season even if Kelly redshirts.

If you talk to Ron Prettyman, he'll tell you that when he hired McKenna, it was basically a tie between him and Greg. If he was that close to good enough then, I can't see why you'd not trust him with the reigns now. Sometimes, continuity is a better thing than change. If there ever was a time like that, it's now.

Congratulations to Coach Lansing! Keep us climbing that hill!!!

Great choice.............GO SYCAMORES!

**Don't think he spent seven seasons as an assistant at New Mexico though? Maybe Iowa?

You're touting this as a great choice and you don't even know where he has been an assistant with any certainty? For the love of God, the ISU Good Ole Boy network is out in full force on these forums.

I think I need to take some time off from this place.

tongue in cheek a-hole....................READ THIS...........HE WAS NEVER AT NEW MEXICO! GOT IT NOW! You sound like a typical east coast prack!

Calm down boys. I'm good with the Lansing hire, but like Jason, I would have liked to have seen them at least take a week to look around and consider their options. It's the best choice though for keeping our recruits (presumably) and maintaining our momentum.

i guess its a good thing that prettyman didnt hire lansing as the womens hc

Coach Lansing

He knows the conference, knows the recruiting area, and knows the players. I am sure glad the decision was made quickly so we can get back to the hard work that the team has been putting in. Pride, team work, and commitment will always be appreciated. Go Sycamores!

WTWO is reporting on the sports that ISU will introduce as their new head coach tomorrow.

I don't think ISU could have gotten a better coach than Lansing.

...I don't think ISU could have gotten a better coach than Lansing.

Ever??

Or with the scenario that RP was presented??

You're saying Lansing would have gotten the job in April had mckenna left for creighton or whOREgon at that time??

Congrats

Congratulations to Coach Lansing. I am excited to see what he could do. As for a national search, it is June 14 folks. The only prayer we had of luring some bigger name in here at this late hour is if Izzo takes the Cavaliers job, maybe we go after one of his assistants, or when the dominoes fall from MSU hiring someone. IMHO, we cannot afford to sit around and wait on that. Remember folks, it takes a community, so let's all get behind Lansing.

As for McKenna, that is college sports. IMHO, there is more here than meets the eye. I don't think you make a move at this late of a date and risk getting a bad rep with NBCA as leaving a program high and dry if there weren't some other issues here. IMHO, there is some credence to the family not liking it here. Add that to the pull of his good friend Altman, coaching in one of the BCS superconferences, more money, and beautiful country in Oregon, and there you have it.

Very glad it's Lansing! No more national searches that bring in a guy for 2-3 years. Awesome that we're staying in the family.
