I hate to be that guy, but if we hit just one of the three free throws we missed down the stretch we would've won.

I think Lansing will have them shooting tons in practice this week. Way to fight hard tonight!

Terre Haute is proud!:sycamores:

I hate to contradict you because I know the free throws you are talking about - front end of 1 and 1 by Steve and Odum and then Odum goes 1 for 2.But you do realize that the Sycamores shot 86% from the foul line don't you? Those are the only 3 that we missed in the entire game, hate to say it but that's pretty damn good on the road. Would like to think that's not the reason we lost the game. However the fact that WSU shoots 40 is an issue for me. We once again got the shaft from the officals, this time it was part of the reason we didn't win the game. That's the fact!

Missing out on the potential three point lead late in regulation really hurt! But you can find several plays like that - the what ifs. Still, JO makes both of those and I think we win. Certainly don't blame him for the loss though, he made double to triple as many plays to keep us in it. The steal and score. Wow! He is amazing!

I understand the gripe with the FT at the end of regulation, but the fact that we shot 86% for the game kind of negates it. Saying that missing two front-ends of one-and-one's was the reason for the loss isn't really fair.

McWhorter missed a layup off a steal in the 1st half. We gave up a fluky tip-in on an offensive rebound. Those plays, among many, many others, has just as much to do with the loss as the few free throws that we missed.

Those are tough free throws not to mention they are both freshman playing in the most hostile environment they'll play in.. Unbelievable game. Wish it didnt end in a 10 point loss though. They played better than that.

It's tough to put a freshman on the line in a clutch situation like that and expect him to hit both free throws. I was trying not to bring up the poor officiating and just focus and what we could've done differently. Against Purdue I thought it couldn't get much worse. Against a Big Ten opponent you expect those kind of calls, but in the Valley this is turning into a big joke! One foul that comes to mind is in the 3rd OT one of our men got called for a foul when we were up 2 with 2:00 to go I believe. The call clearly should have been over the back on MSU. Once again I'd like to emphasize that I was trying to focus on what we could've done to control our own destiny and keep the game out of the officials hands.

I seriously hope you're joking. After all of the officials excuses MSU fans threw at you all week, and watching you fight them all off, you now do a complete 180 and blaming it on them? Are you freaking kidding me?

You do realize WSU was committed for more fouls at the end of regulation? I didn't check the final totals but you do realize they're going to be skewed because Indiana State intentionally fouled about 6 or 7 times in overtime on their comeback.

You do realize 40 free throw attempts for a triple overtime game is not that surprising?

I'm really not shocked that some of you have completely turned a 180 after the MSU game on officiating. Absolutely amazing. And here I was about to be a good winner and come over here and congratulate you on a game well played.

I agree with everything everyone is saying. Jake O made many HUGE plays the entire game and I am by no means blaming it on him. I don't think anyone is to blame. We just need to cut down our turnovers specifically in the first half of games. We have a great team and I know we are all very excited and proud about the way we've been playing.

That's fine and I think you made a good point, I was just point out that those were actually the only 3 foul shots we missed in the game. We did shoot "free throws" and you suggesting that Lansing is going to have them shoot extra is just incorrect.

Odum made big ass plays the entire game to keep this team alive. You should go read Golden's blog, he talks the entire game about how well Odum played. Not that you were suggesting he played bad, I am just point out the fact that yes he missed a couple free throws. But he also had 11 points, 8 assists, 8 rebounds and 3 BIG steals. So say what you will about the free throws you are indeed correct those were big misses.

I'm not overly upset but the officating Valley - I am not really suggesting that's the reason we lost the game. It was a heck a ball game and that's really all I have to say about that. I am not sure how we have done a 180 at this point, but I haven't read the game thread yet so whatever. If you don't like it stop trolling, if you enjoy it keep trolling and don't complain about it... lol

Unbelievable. An amazing game like that, awesome effort on both sides and you come over here, zero in on the one thing you can take exception to and launch in on a rant. I just don't get that. How about: "Great game," "Amazing effort from both teams," something like that. How about contributing something to this board for once!

That is insane. evertime he scores its a game altering/ do or die situation. Like I have been saying his vision both on offense and defense in the passing lane is ridiculous. over the next 3.5 seasons it will be fun to watch him develop.

The dude is insane, you really have to take everything he says with a grain of salt or maybe a couple grains. He visits other teams message boards after wins, he clearly has little class. I don't even take the guy or anyone that trolls seriously.

He is so extremly blown away by our conversations that he sticks around to continue reading. ROFLS. (Rolling On Floor Laughing Sober).

It is a cold hard fact... the game was there to be won.
Great game was played tonight.. I stood among a LOT of Sycamore fans in BallyHoo tonight (I'm sure you will see some pictures and video from there.. Megan was there taking video and pictures..) I was VERY proud of the team and the fans.. it was a good day to be a Sycamore. But if the hit ONLY ONE of those FT's... we win without ANY OT... you know what they say about Free Throws? They are FREE, you may as well take them!

Right... you saw ONE post talking about officiating... and it made you upset? Come on. Like you were REALLY going to give ISU any credit at all..:naughty:

That's fine but the point is other plays were made in that game by the player that missed the free throws had he not made the plays we wouldn't be in that point in the first place. It's a conversation that could be had (both ways) after so many ball games. I don't disagree that if he hits those we are in good shape, but you can't say without a shadow of a doubt that if he does hit those we win the game. The way that ball game went anything was possible. They could have come down and hit a 3. The only FACT is it's all coulda, woulda, shoulda and at the end of the day those free throws didn't go in and the Sycamores lost. That's the only fact, the way it ended up the Sycamores shot 86% from the line and to be honest the way this team has shot free throws this year I will take that every game from here on out without a complaint. Especially in a triple OT game. The Sycamores didn't miss a free throw in any one of the 3 OT's and they still got beat - so in my mind, free throws do win ball games but they also don't guarantee that you win ball games or we would have won in one of those overtimes, correct?

Edited, cuz I just realized I was saying the same thing that SSOM already said (86% FT shooting, prob our best outing of the whole season).

Yes, if you were to take someone's post as literal as possible - with a hint of defensiveness... you would be correct.

can we let this end and just move on to the Evansville game, please! We don't want to be like the MSU fans and carry on for 41 pages about this, that, and the other what if's.

The game is over, nothing is going to change, there's no need to hassle and argue about it.

Bring on the Aces and let's get a win in front of another LARGE crowd on Wednesday!
