The Kleuh Level
Beware...

They're now naming this Louisville bridge traffic problem as "Shermageddon" (Sherman-Minton Bridge closed due to structural cracks). Check your TIMING if you've just gotta travel I-65 S...2 to 3 hr. delays! Also, be sure to "car pool" - ya, right. That'll be the day in America, won't it.

The Sherman closing means that I-64 traffic is NOW routed on I-65...

My choice from TH...or for that matter, ANYWHERE - route thru Owensboro/231 on the "new" suspension bridge. I guess this technology wasn't available back in '62, eh?:krazy:

In case you wonder WHY it takes 500 yrs. to build a bridge in today's world of "political correctness,"
read this article about Louisville's current dilemma in building two (2) NEW bridges:

Spoke with an employee of mine that came back from Ky via I65 yesterday and said that it was fine about mid day. I think that the only major delays are during rush hour times during week. If you are traveling thur Louisville about mid day should be fine. Game will not be over untill late so return trip to indy should also be fine.

BANKSHOT-So right you are! I travel the I65 Kennedy daily. You just got to "SCRATCH YOUR HEAD" on this one. Takes 30+ years and they still can't figure out how to connect the dots. I'm going to the Western game Saturday to see a "Sycamore WIN" and I'm going to have to allow more time to cross a one mile wide river than it's going to take to drive from L-Ville to Bowling Green. GO FIGURE!:sycamores:

Too bad that you've not had the opportunity to view TV coverage 5-9 AM and 3-8 PM...as I mentioned, TIMELY planning is essential. If you're domiciled in W IN, there's no reason to be on I-65.

I DRIVE for Landstar Express America now...3rd career, post teaching/paralegal. Just returned from Laredo, TX, via San Antonio - Austin - Waco - Dallas...none were worse than the CURRENT I-65 problem in Louisville. This weekend is the UK/'Ville Governors Cup in Lexington, so fortunately, most of the riff raff will be out of town this year.

BTW, Louisville Convention Center usually is booked for some activity EVERY weekend, so don't expect Louisville to be home "on the couch." It's a big city with multiple venues.

understand but I was told that it was fine at noon yesterday in both directions. INDOT says restrictions and delays are in AM and PM rush hour times.

JustAskin-you just might want to plan ahead for this one. It's for real! Should be lighter on Saturday but still you don't want to miss out on a Sycamore Win just because your hung out to dry in L-Ville.

I'd cross in anyplace but that mess. I used to live there and it was always congested. I can't imagine 64 traffic on 65 as well. I'd cross in E-ville, Tell City, or Madison depending on where you live.

"Interesting Perspectives"

Why anyone from T-H or Northern Indiana would drive thru the Louisville-metro area to get to Bowling Green, Kentucky is puzzling.

Type / Design / Style of bridges have nothing to do with building bridges in the East End of Looavull --- (it has nothing to do with 'political correctness' either) it has EVERYTHING to do with the prevailing NIMBY attitude.
(NIMBY = Not In My BackYard)

And if anyone thinks NIMBY is a KY 'hilljack' or Looavull-only attitude... they should really do some research on why US-231 took YEARS to be widened from the Natcher Bridge to I-64 (a distance of ~25 miles) Or why I-69 STILL hasn't been completed from Indy to E'vansville, Memphis, etc, etc, etc

Take US-41 South; grab the Audubon Parkway at Henderson; then the bypass around Owensboro (60) then the Natcher Parkway to BGreen

Say what? If you use Google or Mapquest, whatever.....Anything north and east of Lafayette takes I-65 thru Louisville to Bowling Green. We are making way too much of all this anyway but common sense should tell you that most Hoosiers are going thru the Ville. Who doesn't go thru Louisville? Greencastle would have someone taking 231 south and TH would obviously be routed south on 41. Since my degree is in Geography, I felt compelled to respond.

Agree we're wasting time on this but that's part of the point of all of these boards -- to waste time!

I'm not a slave to Google; MapQuest, etc --- probably part of my neo-Luddite attitude. Considering the traffic on I-65 between Indy and Looavull; I avoid it when ever possible. Naturally, there are times when Looavull can't be avoided; it all depends on my end goal.

Love to hear folks take the drive test; one via Looavull, one via E'Ville / Henderson and then report back.

I'f I'm in The Haute; no way in the world am I driving to Looavull to get to BGreen.

Well, when I was at the Haute obtaining my Sycamore degree, I don't remember any Geography book describing this kind of mess..."Got to have a little fun with this"---Someone down here skipped the common sense part when they decided how to cross a river.

Caution, the above instructions from a guy who got to Penn Sate with 3:00 minutes left in the game lol

LOL - 41S thru E-ville is a real time saver since the redesign was opened in '70! :krazy:

You can tell who looks at maps v. actually travels the roads...

I could care less what route anyone takes, as long as they arrive in BG s-a-f-e and the Sycamores kick butte.

Whenever I head South from Terre Haute, I always take 41. It is a lot faster. Henderson is kind of a pain sometimes but not to bad. It is quicker to go down 41 if your on the west side of Indiana.
