You don't have to worry about getting offers outside of Indiana State after this season - your job will be safe here for now. That multi million dollar deal you thought may be in your near future, probably not going to come anytime soon.

At least not until you acknowledge that this team is terrible offensively. You have been talking all season how you are not worried about the O, well in the second half the O was horrible. Our free throw shooting when it mattered sucked and our MO (defense) was not very good most of the game. We have one of the worst (worst) offensive teams in the nation and you act like its no big deal - wake the hell up.

1-3 in the Valley - well done boys. Way to lay an egg!

Final thought - have you ever thought about going zone? I mean our guards continually get beat off the dribble and our help side defense isn't particularly strong. It's no wonder we are allowing teams to shoot over 50% from the field, they are shooting layups on us. Glad to see that Lathan got the start ahead of Steve, he's clearly earned the minutes as he was our best player on the floor today.

Now I realize you can't go shoot free throws for the guys, but to miss 11 free throws at home? You can't be serious? We missed something like 5 in the last 4 min. of the game 4 in the last 3 min. of the game from Odum and RJ - it's flat out unacceptable. I'm not happy and yes I jumped off the cliff.

As a whole this has been a pretty patient bunch of fans, just kind of sitting back and waiting for the team to play better - thinking surely we will play to expectations, not the case. I don't want to hear this blamed on getting everyones "best effort" either. It's college basketball you get the best effort every night, it's part of the game - has nothing to do with what your team did last season.

Wish I could disgree with something in this post, but I can't. We GAVE away this game to an average msu team. I don't care that they beat Creighton at Omaha, this is an avg bears team and we might as well of just asked them in the second half what kind of shot they wanted or how many points they wanted on each possession because we pretty much just handed it to them anyway.

Waltman's teams struggled offensively. That was my biggest concern with Lansing becoming coach that we'd experience the same problems again. The complaints I'm hearing here now are the same ones we heard toward the end of Waltman's tenure.

By playing Dulouny we sure added strength in this area, didn't we? Nothing but power & "D" inside - Geeesh...I guess Lansing's looking to the future - on 2nd thought, Dulouny's a Sr. isn't he?:imslow:
Maybe we had a recruit in the stands from Sudan...

Exactly...and Lansing's rigid game plan w/ little creative diversity (see SSOM's prior post) is another symptom carried over from the RW era. With the DEPTH problem in our backcourt, Lansing's extremely limited in this area. But it's not a surprise, is it?

I'm out in 'Vegas & viewed the game via Syc Vision. In summary, I don't see the SAME heart in this year's squad as last year.
What a difference that Kelly & Carter made...might also be called LEADERSHIP.

At 10-5, sorry but it's hard for me to agree with these sentiments.

Laying an egg to me would be losing five in a row....like our team did last year in conference, and that team went on to play the NCAA tourney.

Here's to hoping our team gets back on track and turn it around, like I know they can and will!

Couldn't agree more. I didn't even listen to the post game show. I don't want to hear the BS. We are not very good on offense or defense. Can't blame the shooting on coach though, that was pathetic.

Don't be sorry - I'm not asking anyone to agree with me. They are my thoughts and its the way I feel about a team playing a conference hame at home that comes out of the half totally flat. Its how I feel about it - glad you are able to hold it togeather better than I.

Holding it together, yes. Frustrated with our 1-3 MVC record.....oh my gosh yes.

I'm remaining positive by stating I know we'll turn it around, but it's definitely tougher and tougher to remain positive with each loss.

I just remind myself of our decades and decades of losing and how 10-5 is still a decent to good record.

10-11....will put me over the edge

Too Funny! You guy's are all full of it and the same folks who jumped on the band wagon last year when the team made the tournament. Show me a team that doesn't struggle at some point throughout the year. Missouri lost big time today and are folks calling for their coaches head, hell no! Duke struggled today as well.

Are we struggling yes but college basketball and momentum can change in one game. The Sycamores beat an SEC team this year, beat a Big 12 team and should have beat Minnesota. What team since 1979 has done that? You win by having consistency over time in the head coach. Royce had a nice run but every year wasn't perfect. We have the right guy leading our program and we will get through this tough period of games and finish strong. The MVC is a tough league with a lot of evenly talented teams and it will be a dog fight all year long.

I will watch the message board the rest of the way to see how the "tide of pride" changes with all of you.

Greg Lansing has showed tremendous committment to our university and I only wish you guy's could just the rest of us in showing that same level of support.

Let the record show this is NOT by any means a fire coach Lansing thread. In fact, I will never start a thread like that in my life. This is a wake up and stop making excuses thread. He's the coach of a team who has come out flat several times this year. Look no further than before the games when starting lineups are announced - we have no energy, no swagger. Just kinda walk out and whatever lets play ball. Bring some energy. I have not read your entire post because your out of line. You wont find any band wagon fans on this forum. Lastly, this forum has been very mild this season in its reaction to losses. I personally can't sit back and watch it any longer - I am a season ticket holder and have been going to games since I was 7 years old - if I want to be pissed off I eill be pissed off an I will be damned if anyone tells me I don't have that right after a 1 and 3 start in the Valley.

I love Coach and hope he's here for a long time. He proved last year he can coach but with success comes higher expectations and a little criticism. We are not playing well now and have played some ugly basketball against some weak competition in the non conference and it's time for him to change some things up. I was glad to see the change in the starting line up today. My biggest criticism of coach would be his substitution patterns and timing of substitutions. We had some strange combinations out there today at some critical times.

There is no individual or team mental toughness right now and no killer instinct. Jake took charge late last year and refused to lose. His feet probably hurt him a lot more than he lets on and it affects his all-around game and he can't always do anymore what his mind wants him to? Its not the same Jake out there now? The seniors in their last hurrah need to step up every game not just a couple of them this game and a couple others the next game. Need their intensity & leadership now; later will be too late I am afraid. Also, is Gant injured or sick? If not, why isn't he playing and why isn't Kitchell logging some experience also? Neither of them will be getting better or more exprienced sitting on the bench.

One thing seems apparent. Whatever confidence the team had and carried over from last season and through those first ten games is now gone.

Wow. Did it really take everyone this long to finally start questioning Lansing. Everybody says oh he's the coach, I'll trust he knows what he's doing. The sad part is that our problems are so apparent and fixable. He'll show how good of a coach he is by whether or not he makes the appropriate adjustments.

How many of us think this has a lot to do with it being Lansing's second year, and many opposing coaches not being surprised by what they see? Kind of like in baseball when a rookie pitcher comes up from the minors and in his first game throws a four hitter. Two weeks later he faces the same team and those professionals have had time to watch some film and learn, and he gets rocked for 8 runs in two innings.

Not saying Coach is out of his league (I agree with SSOM that this is in no way meant to be a "fire coach" post), but just wondering how much of our problem since league play started revolve around the fact that last year opposing coaches didn't know what to expect from us and now our offense is "old news" with everyone having had time to watch film and learn more about it.

I don't think this is the ONLY reason for our struggles, but I think it has contributed.

Watched the Purdue game at Penn State the other night and we are a lot like them. No post game and when we can't hit our 3's we struggle to score
