From the outside looking in, Weddle is the perfect fit for the job, hometown guy, hard worker etc etc

Why is Bennett not at Indiana anymore? Ill State guy is a baseball guy.

Why is Bennett not at Indiana anymore? Ill State guy is a baseball guy.

Coach Bennett left Indiana on her own following a car accident. She coached most of her final season there w/ her head in a halo from the wreck. Now that is dedication. Coach Bennett is a defense specialist....like her father.

Coach Norton is the best X's and O's coach in the Valley. Look what he did to us when we played Illinois State. He is a wonderful family man and has paid his "dues" as an Assistant.

That is fine that you support Coach Weddle, but look at the resume's of all four of the coaches. A distinct difference. I want the best for ISU and am sure Mr. Prettyman will select the best candidate.

Is Weddle any older than the players?

Doubt that the AD will consider the lobbying of people on this message board. He has not in any hire yet?

Bennett- 72-74 (5yr record at Indiana University) 10-18 her last year, she has been living on her daddy and brothers names.

Norton- Doesnt even mention anything about his recruiting @ Ill State- seems to be a baseball guy to me.

Moren-3 straight 20 win seasons @ Indianapolis w/ CLINT WEDDLE as assistant coach, Indy is still living on those kids

INDIANS1- seems like your favorite is Norton- are you related or something?

These other 3 candidates have nothing over Weddle and his already in place.

I don't have a favorite in the race. You questioned why Coach Bennett left IU and I put what I had been told from a Big 10 Coach. Second, Coach Norton means nothing to me. He is the main recruiter for IL State and while you don't see them listed in ESPN or Blue Star for top recruiting classes, let's face it IL State is getting the job done. They just beat Illinois last night by two in the WNIT. (Who by the way had a top 3 recruiting class and finished tied for next to last in the Big Ten)

Indiana State has a ton of talent and I don't want to see a lot of that talent leave. Coach Weddle is young and could still use some experience under his belt. He is a nice person and it is nothing personal. If he is hired, I will still support the women 110%.

Perhaps the question should be....How are you related?

i can tell you from experience.....the more you yell for a particular coach.....

the less chances that coach has of getting hired...so take my advice....if you want it.....if you really, really, really want weddle to get the job....less talk on the website about it....

ron prettyman does not like to be cornered on a particular coach...if you want weddle, present the facts squarely and then be done with it.....

weddle has the experience. hes been a head coach of OCU. i went to high school in the town where he played his ball and head coached at. he has plenty of experience and if he doesnt get the job here he will get a job somewhere else and we will lose a great recruiter, coach, and role model.

my opinion might be skewed because i was a fan of his when he played at OCU. our hs always got tickets for their games and me and my friends would always go. For those who dont know about OCU, it is a pretty legit basketball school for its size. They host the NCCAA(yes that is correct the NCCAA) national championship almost ever year and won some while i was in school back in east gibson county.

i know the mens team has played OCU few times as a warm up for our season. My main point is he had been a head coach on the college level. it doesnt matter if it was a smaller division than ISU, it was still a college team.

Pay attention to TJames post above. He knows personally what he is talking about............................don't corner the AD or indicate that he might leave if he doesn't get the job. You are pounding the nail in the coffin for any chance he might have.

I think Mr.Prettyman has made some great hires in his time @ ISU. I just hope that Weddle gets a chance at his dream job, i know he will do a good job with the team. Heard there was around 200 people at his open forum yesterday. Either way, i want the best for the ISU Women, i do feel WEddle is the best option

got another clue for you....

a lot of people at weddle's open forum doesn't necessarily bode well for his chances....ron will hire who he feels the most comfortable with.....and no nudging or rooting or stomping of feet will change that....i learned that myself when the baseball job was open....i made a fool of myself by going over the deep end and backing a particular candidate....i still like my candidate...but ron hired a really good person and coach nonetheless....just trying to give you a few simple words of advice....just don't position yourself behind one candidate to the point where you will be really disappointed and disheartened if he isn't hired....i admitted that i went over the deep end in my support for someone....and i said some things that were hurtful to people...and i have apologized for that....just don't make the same mistakes that i did....

ya cause im really cornering him on a discussion forum. i doubt he really cares what i have to say and every one else says. if weddle doesnt get the job i wont be surprised. i really dont care who gets the job cause more than likely wont be here for long term.

I don't know where people are getting the idea that the young women on the team want Weddle to be their new head coach. I personally know that at least half of the team don't even want him to continue to be involved with the team even as an assistant coach.
They are very hopeful that Prettyman will hire someone with new blood, bring some real change to the program.
The team needs leadership and coaching that will help them improve competitiveness and skill.
Some are afraid to say what they think and feel for fear that Weddle will end up the coach and retaliate against them. That does not sound like it will bode well for the team as a whole.
Also, it is a good chance that if he does become coach there will be players who will ask for release. One has already.
There, I said it.

I really don't know lol...I have heard that the girls want Weddle....I have heard the girls dont want weddle...lol...I just don't know lol...

Well, I have no idea what Wiedie did to get himself fired, seems like it was more of a mutiny to me. The crew he has left behind were part of his "team" all these years. Maybe some housecleaning needs to be done?

According to the Illinois State message board, Coach Randy Norton has withdrawn his application for the job.
