The Sycamore Level
I know most football analysts, be they professional or amateur (fan/alum/parent/former player... ), have a tendency to focus on the QB and RBs, the balls in their hands. But at the end of the day it really is very much about the receivers, O - line and the defense. Look at last year's Super Bowl. Ask Peyton Manning if the championship game was won by Seattle's defense or Seattle's quarterback/tailback.
Personally I think it's about the lines.
It would be very interesting to me to get a read on the Pride's readership on their opinion about Sycamore receivers, O-line and each of the Sycamore defensive position groupings: linebackers, D line, corners and safeties.

We are going to need help from the newcomers on both the offensive and defensive lines. Some nice looking players coming in, but they'll have to step up to the competition very quickly to contribute significantly. Perish's year will depend on how much protection he gets, and how productive our running game can be. I think we have a deep group of receivers, but none that are completely proven. Kyani Harris showed promise last year befor his problems, and there are several others that gained some experience, but either couldn's stay healthy, or couldn't stay eligible. I'm excited to see what a couple of the big, athletic newcomers can do, like the McClendon kid from Evergreen Park. Having Jamar Brown back and healthy would also make a big difference--he was off to a great start before getting injured last year.

Defensively, Underwood will need some help on the line--he will be productive, but could use some push up the middle to help. Not sure if the transfer DL will be here or not--haven't heard anything about him or the LB being at or going to workouts, which is troublesome if true. I think there is some depth at LB, but Thurman is the only one that played every game. I look forward to seeing his continued development. Safeties are pretty deep, and with Layne and Sewall, one of our most experienced positions (along with Phil Wilson, Tsali Lough and some good looking newcomers). CB will be a key position. We went through a lot of bodies at that position last year, and other than Starks, I don't know who is still here or who would be the starters.

I plan on doing all of the positions. I have a WR one almost done but it is on my PC at work.

Plus we've had several kids leave but are still listed on the GoSycamores.com roster so I'm trying to get people to confirm stuff I've heard and most are not sharing with me anymore for whatever reason.

JS , I encourage you to NOT do further position analyses. I think Sanford's approach is best at this point in time. Now we play our cards pretty close to the vest. Just a suggestion.
