see

they bleachers are all down and also the dugouts~ the fence is not around the backstop~

Drove by there (Third Street) Saw some brick work being done in the outfield .Looked like its full steam ahead on the the construction .

What makes everyone so nervous about this thing not being done? I mean do you all realize the entire construction industry works under deadlines all the time and don't you think any "good" construction company accounts for bad weather and possible complications to assure that they get everything finished up in time? Does that sound to logical to even state...

I am sure everyone at Indiana State and the construction company is well aware of when the season starts and I am sure if Indiana State has told the construction company they need to be done by a certain date (which I am sure that they have) then it will be done.

You're awfully confident Morgan. It should be done, I would think, but weather complicates construction schedules all the time. There are certain things that just can't be done in freezing temperatures. Not because the workers can't handle it, but because the materials can't. It should be done in time, but the weather can certainly complicate things.

How much dirt is actually being moved? Will the outfield be re-sodded? Does the infield need a TON of work?

OR are we talking about new bleachers/seating; the locker rooms and dugouts?

I mean it's not like they're building the 'New Yankee Stadium' is it??

The new stadium should be a big addition to the recruiting and bringing in of players. It needed to be done a long time ago. Hopefully Coach H can get the kids from around the midwest instead of going out for the quick fixes that Meggs did. I look forward to heading down for the dedication ceremony in the spring. Hopefully many of the former players will be out.

I know for a fact, once it's time to set the bleachers, the weather won't affect the materials. We'll install in any weather.

Does anyone know if they are going with field turf on the infield? I haven't heard anything about that. From what I can see from the street they are making some serious progress. I have seen Coach Heller out about everyone. I saw him in the commons eating and also at football games. I think he is going to do great things here at State. Having Prettyman (a baseball guy) as your AD won't hurt his chances either. Can't wait till spring.

I hope they can get it done in time and have faith they can...the issue I am having is that I have never seen a construction project on the ISU campus or any campus really, come in on time, that I can remember. Many have been relatively close but few done by the projected dates and within the budget. But, I think that there is much at play in this and other projects on the ISU campus that are "forcing" the issue and making it better. In other words, new administrators that have standards and expectations which lend themselves to making sure things are done correctly and on time.

I sure hope they get field turf. It will look and play so much better. Hope it all comes together. I saw to day quite a bit of progress on what looks like they new bleachers, it's getting exciting.

for background...Which projects are you referencing?

The dorm renovations? The Rec Center? University Hall? Root Hall? The Myers Tech Bldg?!

Appreciate any background

How about Phase 2 of the football locker room construction which is about to go out for bid - this phase will build the soccer locker rooms.

And also the new water cooler plant that is going to be built on the west side of campus, also about to go out for bid.

Starting to look more and more like my outdoor track facility will be a standalone facility! I know they are making some headway with this project, hopefully see some major developments in the next 3 years!

Not sure, but given the proximity of the power lines to the stadium, I would think that a liability SAFETY ISSUE might support a convincing argument on the matter. I wonder what would happen if a vehicle ran into the pole at a reasonable velocity during a game? Do you think "forseeability" and "due diligence" could be argued in a court of law?

How often to vehicles run into electric/telephone/etc poles?

Are these poles in the parking lot?

Are we talking about idiot drivers?
