I just was reading the game thread and had to stop and ask what are you guys talking about? That was as many people as I have seen at the Hulman Center in 3 years... I don't know how many games you guys have been to, but I have been to damn near ever game for the last 15 years and that was as good of a crowd as I have seen in the HC in sometime.

When Indiana State game them something to cheer about people were on their feet. It was a great atmosphere in the HC today, the students on the other hand. Well that was a less than impressive turnout. Must be a bunch of liars on Facebook - because we are lucky if we had 200 students.

It looked like it has. They had a shot where they got the entire stadium and it looked like it has the last several times I've been there. What was the announced attendance?

I don't know what the final count was on it - but let me explain something to you guys. I walked out of the Copper Bar at 12:45 and their was crowd to get tickets stretching all the way back to the parking garage.

I went up to some people and said, "what the hell is going on here a Kid Rock concert". I have NEVER seen people in line to get tickets at the HC. I am just telling you that was as good of crowd that I have seen in the HC in years. You can take my word for it or trust your own eyes and go with the camera shot. That place was electric in the second half.

The lower bowl was about like usual, but people came out in large numbers and sat in the upper bowl. I really don't get what all the fuss is about, maybe you guys haven't seen the place empty as I have for the past 10 years lol. That was a good crowd, I aint going to expect anything different.

Now for a school like Creighton the crowd probably sucked, but I am talking in HC terms here. Not comparing it to anything other than what is the norm in the HC.

I sit behind the benches and I have noticed something the past few years. There always seems to be more people on the other side of the Hulman Center (off camera side ) I don't know if there are more now shows on my side or more tickets sold on the other, but it always seems that there are more on the west side.

Thanks superfan - not sure when the last time we had 6k plus in the HC? Anyone, anyone? ok nuff said about this.
Thanks for being the finality... unfortunately, your perception isn't reality. This would mark the third time over 6k this year per official stats at State and NOT the top crowd.

Buffalo - 3927
DePaul - 6879
Oakland City - 6056
Bradley - 4037
Illinois State - 4275
Northern Iowa - 5164

Ima tell you that shit aint accurate at all... lol Because that was the best crowd they have had in the HC all year. In terms of numbers and noise level. I don't know how else to tell you guys. So much so that I aint going to post any more about it, I don't know how they count based on tickets sold/given away or actual asses in seats. I'm just telling you guys what I witnessed with my own eyes, please tell me someone else agrees with me? lol Or have I totally lost it?

Well, we'll be able to verify once they update the stats and add today's attendance. Maybe the number will be higher. Who knows? All I know is when they panned to the 3/4 stadium camera shot, it looked about normal to me. However, if they were tucked in the upper bowl on the backside, then so be it.

I agree! Very disappointed in the students today. Horrible!

You're dead on State of Mind. It was by FAR the biggest crowd all year.

THANK THE GOOD LORD! lol I was beginning to wonder, anyone else want to add to this discussion please do. It really doesn't matter to me what the numbers said.

In 15 years I can count on 1 hand how many times I have seen a line to get tickets in the HC.

All I have to do is look up in the upper bowl to tell what kind of crowd we had and tonight we had more people in the upper bowl than I have seen in a long time. I am not saying it was THE BEST crowd ever by any means. But people that are complaining about the crowd? I don't get it... When you have the best turnout all year I don't think you can complain!

The crowd today was ELECTRIC!!!! That was the loudest and biggest crowd that I have seen at HC. I also saw that line outside of HC, I was inside sitting at one of the benches looking at that line.

I thought the crowd was pretty good and the student section was ok, and frankly, the student section bashing got pretty annoying during my time(Graduated last year). We'd paint faces, our hard hats, different get-ups, jerseys, scream and yell, be in the front row when doors opened, and come back just to hear how terrible the students were again. It made a couple of the guys(that are still in school) mad enough to just give up with the going all out and just go and sit.

Well then I don't think anyone on here was talking to you and your group of friends that went to the games. We are not talking down on that group at all, our posts were clearly not directed at you, rather the entire student body. Today was a pretty weak turnout by the students IMO.

I don't think the "bashing" as you call it would be as disheartening as the lack of support by the rest of your student body?

Sure, the lack of other student support didn't help, but people in the group were upset about it because we were the only students on this board(I will say it has grown) and felt the criticism was directed at us and we should do more to get students there.

I'm not criticizing the ones who are there, I'm criticizing the ones who aren't.

It's always fun to second guess attendance at HC but my guess is that our season ticket holders (who get counted whether or not they show up) came out in larger numbers filling in more of the lower bowl. Since the game is a 1000 over the average of 5,000, then the walk-up sales were higher because many bought tickets at the last moment. I hated to not be there but I had to work but I will say that the stadium seemed much louder on TV than normal and you could feel the crowd respond to every good play and it help carry the team over a quality opponent. Love those kind of games and you know the players were sky-high after the game.

I don't think this was the designated Serve-Pro fan appreciation game as someone had mention on here today, unless I have been told wrong. My understanding is that will be last game of the season.

FYI, and I will start a thread here this week on this but put Saturday, Feb 12th on your calendar. It is the 6th annual Out-of-Towner's Classic. The Ballyhoo is holding a pre-game party before the game with FREE PIZZA and has bought 1000 tickets for the game. This is co-sponsored by the ISU Central Indiana Alumni Chapter and the Bally. If you would like to go, e-mail me at [email protected] and I will reserve as many FREE game tickets as you can use.
