Hunter Owen Selected In 25th Round Of MLB Draft By Pittsburgh

Indiana State junior Hunter Owen continued a long tradition of excellence for the Sycamore Baseball program as he was selected in the 25th round of the Major League Baseball Draft today (June 11) by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Owen was the 765th player overall selected in the 2016 draft.

A Mater Dei OFer that was @ ISU's '15 Fall Workout was also drafted in the 29th round...wasn't real impressive last Fall, but his mother conveyed that his Mater Dei FB squad was still playing in the IHSAA playoffs and he hadn't lifted a bat or glove for a couple months. She must've been telling the truth!

The numbers tell the story of the DROP in MVC talent this past season...#143 Sam Perez was the 1st MVC player selected. Not very impressive.
