To close all player profiles once they have officially left Indiana Stare - not once they enter the portal because they could still come back, but once they have committed to another school. I believe discussion about that player should end at that time and the threads should be warehoused in a new forum titled “Gone & Purposely Forgotten”.

* The only caveat to this is rule is a player that comes to Indiana State and graduates from Indianan State. If you get a degree from here you are considered an alum of Indiana State at that point.

Same. I rooted against Texas, Xavier and St. Louis all year

As sage philosopher of violence Scott Hall once proclaimed: "You're either with us or against us."

St. Louis I can understand with Schertz, but why Xavier and Texas?

I get the frustration of NIL. But they did what they thought was best for them. Why should players stick around when they can get paid more and go to a bigger program? We hired Graves and 6 seasons in he’s never ONCE had a winning record. They need to stay why? Because of loyalty? Even though Kent and Conwell were also transfers?

I don’t mean to be argumentative, but we are very low on a totom poll that goes way up. It sucks, but it is their life to live and make the most of it.

Fandom isn't rational.

Dead. To. Me.

If other Sycamore "fans" want to be reversible jacket fans, that's on them. It's like people that have multiple favorite NFL, MLB, NBA teams.

I don’t root for any players who have left here. Past, present or future. Pre-NIL or post NIL.

I voted "yes", but you could probably put me in the "don't care" category at this point too. Unless there are major changes with college basketball, the portal, and NIL; I can't see myself ever becoming fully invested in it again. A majority of our team from here on out is basically going to be made up of players who will either eventually leave or who have previously left somewhere else. That's just the unfortunate truth and no amount of NIL that ISU puts together will be able to change that.

Why should fans of any program have to accept all the reasons that you gave and continue to support the athlete or have any emotions toward them?

Personally, I’m not giving any energy toward cheering against anyone who leaves here that’s not worth it for me. I’m not giving it any energy one way or the other - which is why I’d sorta like to see the threads closed because I don’t care for any updates.

If the players can enter free agency and leave the program - don’t ask fans to feel a certain way about it or accept it no matter the reason.

Agree....1oo% true...about almost ANY topic, opinion or "statement of fact" by anyone on this forum when you think about it.

I HATE the transfer portal and everything college athletics has become. Which that said i'm a pretty hard "no" on this topic. The reason being; the community that is college basketball (players, coaches, managers, "agents", administrators) is a rather small group of people when comparing to the general population. I think Coach Graves made a comment that their staff alone has about every contact you can think of one phone call away. Basically, everyone is networking. We as a fanbase do have some influence on recruits, every recruit wants to play for a large passionate fanbase but they also don't want it to be ugly either; it's a delicate balance. Basically i don't want the Sycamore fanbase to get toxic or bitter as it could come back to hurt when trying to get players in the portal.

There has been a lot of talk Robbie Avila back in TH for whatever reason. While he has caught some heat from the fanbase this past year i'm sure his time in TH has been way better than STL and a lot of that has to do with the people. Not saying we are even trying to recruit any of STLs portal players (i do like Max Pikaar though) but I would hope that having someone like RA championing ISU for us is a lot more beneficial for us than being bitter and burning bridges. There just aren't that many bridges in the college basketball community and we are in no position to burn them

Talk of Robbie back at ISU? Really?

Closing a thread for comments is the opposite of toxic - it doesn’t invite positive or negative comments, it closes the chapter in the book because the book is over once they leave. When they are here - our fan base and community will hug the shit out of them better than most. Closing a thread and moving on will not be viewed as anything other than us treating the process as reality - entirety transactional.

I love Graves and others mentality around this subject as they are trying to create a valuable and lasting experience here and trying to compensate for what we can’t provide in NIL resources and trying to deliver in other ways - it’s a very solid approach. Without it, you don’t keep kids like Camp Wagner. People matter and the people in and around this program are definitely making an impact on these kids which is difficult to replicate at other institutions.

But to that end - once they make the decision to make it about money then that’s fine, they have every right. Don’t ask me to celebrate that or care. I have zero emotion about JD (for example) leaving InState. He’s very replaceable as he is not a good defender, he’s not a great ball handler, he’s a meh passer and his free throw shooting was hot and cold - he will likely struggle in the A10 especially defensively unless he gets in better shape and commits to that side of the floor. I liked our roster better with him than without him - don’t get me wrong. But my opinion about him leaving is entirely about X’s and O’s - I’m here to talk ball. Not get in my feels about some choices that college kids are making and how they are going about it. Focus on the athletes that have come here or chosen to stay here - not the one’s who made it transactional.

The player threads once they leave here are pointless and are not a reflection on anything about our fans positive or negative… You think people come on here and go - well they do seem to fully embrace kids once they transfer? 😂 okayyy… That mentality in this business (because it’s now a business) will get you beat 10 times out of 10.

And any “heat” we caught as a fan base had very little to do with our players transferring it had everything to do with a narcissistic, selfish head coach who handled the situation about as poorly as one could… Our fans (myself included) decided to tell the real story - if we took “heat” for that then it was well worth it. A guy who wanted to control the narrative even after he left didn’t get to… Look no further than his weak ass rouge Facebook post a month ago while his season was still going on.

Just to clear that up.
