Allen is a big time high school program in Texas. Amazing that they can do things like this regardless.

That is just ridiculous!!!!! There is just no explanation for that whatsoever! What benefit to the students, staff, citizen's, etc. does that have? I am all for building a decent place for them to play, but that is...wow! Oil money I guess?

They could pick that stadium up and drop it right here on ISU's campus. It would be perfect for us. But for a high school? Crazy...

I think some of you are failing to appreciate that it's a football stadium being built in Texas. Heck, their pee-wee football fields probably put our high school stadiums to shame. They're obsessed with football, for better or worse.

If it's like the stadiums in San Antonio, they belong to the school district, not a high school; it would the equivalent of the IPS building 2 stadiums like this and all IPS HS teams using them; not just one school.

Football is to Texas as Basketball is to Indiana.

What is the largest high school basketball gym/arena in the Indiana?

Frankfort has a great one (remember Blue Chips was filmed there)

No, this is Allen's home football field. Think Friday Night Lights and these guys are like a team out of the show. They put a lot of kids into Division I football... sending 10 kids a year is average to them.

Additionally, they'll pack this stadium every Friday night no questions asked.

I believe New Castle has the biggest high school gym in the country followed by the Wigwam up in Anderson. Here is a link. The coolest high school gym in the state in my opinion is Southport High School on the southside of Indy. They have Semi State there every year for 2A and 4A. I can't believe it didn't make the cut.

And ten out of the top 12 are in Indiana. Yeah, those Texans are crazy!

Sure but what's the average age of the Indiana BBall Cathedrals vs. the texas stadiums??

PLUS (I love this part) So Many of Indiana's were GOV'T STIMULUS construction projects!! WPA, PWA!! Leave it to hoosiers to build BBall gyms over roads and bridges!!

Thanks -- Lot of folks in San Antonio like to brag (sh** show me a texan who doesn't...) but HSs in San Antonio share football fields, gyms, swimming pools; now, they're still damn near stupid-sized but more and more folks are moving to texas (from all 5 borders... though WHY :krazy: I don't now.)

Thousands moving to Texas.....Governor talking about succeeding form the union, fast track to death penalty, better options in terms of state taxes for small business, better weather in most of the state, more resources, several fortune 500 companies headquartered in Texas, near the ocean, more room, independent nature of Texans, hmmm...I wonder why people are moving there. Oh yea, I tried to find the article I read in USA Today about a month ago and haven't been able to find it but, article basically said that Texas was the first state to recover from recession and that property values are actually increasing with foreclosures being less than 48 other states.

Texas is a good place to be right now. But to build this thing is just crazy to me. I get it, in Indiana we have built large bball arenas...not that big and not that much money...of course that is probably because the attendance at HS basketball games is down so much that school districts realise that they couldn't fill a huge new arena anyway...but that is a whole other debate.

Actually New Castle has the largest high school field house in the world. Southport should be ranked as it is over 7,000 easy.

No that it matters but with Anderson closing and consolidating will the "new" high school still play in the Wigwam?
