The Sycamore Level
Ian had surgery yesterday afternoon for his hernia. Everything went great and we are very optimistic about his recovery. However, he is very sore...because the surgery was a little more complex than anticipated. The hernia was strangalated which was causing the groin pain...so, as it turns out it appears that he didn't really have a groin pull. Ian said after the surgery that the pain in his groin area has disappeared.
As parents, we want to thank the training staff who did a fabulous job of taking care of Ian during this transistion. Also, Ian's doctor/surgeon who was located in Indianapolis and does many of the necessary surgeries for the Colts. He is fabulous. We had every confidence that WE were in good hands.
NOW Ian's recovery...if it were left up to Ian he would be back tomorrow, but, he realizes that it's going to be a bit longer. Thanks to everyone for their well wishes and concern. He will gradually work into a routine until he is 100%...we're just not sure how long he will be out. He plans to be on the sidelines this Saturday. He loves ISU...and cannot wait to contribute. He has extremely high expectations of himself and worked extremely hard all year...especially working at putting weight on and maintaining his speed and getting stronger. He reached his goal of getting to 235...and weighed in at the beginning of summer camp at 237.
I think he is even more motivated now than he has ever been...he truly believes that at least one of the years that he will be at ISU, they will WIN a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. If his focus is any indication of how the rest of the team is thinking...I Believe IT!
We look forward to being back soon...kick some butt tomorrow...GO SYCAMORES!
