LOL..the ol' "keyboard" must not have access to the massive school restructuring/consolidation which occurred during the early 60's, especially in Vigo County:

"Better CUT than KEYBOARD"

Ol' Fred the Pedo has crawled out of from under his rock...

school consolidation, like you Fred the Pedo, is irrelevant

vigo county's school consolidation is no different than the rest of the state's

Who recommended returning to the "old" WV format? Curious where you'd get the schools? Do you ever THINK before hitting the KEYS?

Fred the Pedo asking about thinking... now THAT's funny!

at the height of the original Wabash Valley tourney (1947 - 124 schools), the IHSAA had 814 total members, 789 full members; the WVT field represented 15+% of IHSAA membership, today 15+% of the IHSAA membership would be 64 teams - doable today

no doubt there's an IHSAA regulation that will limit an in-season tourney but 64 teams is still doable, though it won't happen

Curious...when you were growing up in "old" downtown E-ville, did you get raped by a band of Garvin Park squirrels?

I guess it depends on the definition of "fix".

If the goal is to create more movement and action, the 10 second time to penetrate the 3 point line would do that.
The chance of committing a turnover should increase which leads to an incentive to shoot.

If the goal is to force a lesser talented team to take a shot, it avoids that.

I don't like giving officials another timing responsibility.

"Stall ball" is the only thing that makes high school basketball interesting. If they try to create some gimmick in the rules that doesn't allow that I will never go watch a HS game again. Besides that very few teams do that anyways unless maybe they are near the end of the quarter.

Keep in mind these are high school kids. It's not the NBA or the glorified joke called AAU where they refuse to play defense. Leave IHSAA high school ball alone!

So, we penalize the offense because the defense refuses to play defense? Maybe the defense should get teed up for not defending.

True, but in a low-scoring affair, that ploy is easily a tool for the team implementing the tactic, as most squads were generally 75%+ FT shooting.

They don’t shoot 75%+ free throws. That is just way too high. Sure, there might be one or two teams that do, but that’s not remotely close to the norm.

The basis of my comment is if the other team wants to keep from their opponent stalling, foul or get up in their jock on defense. And if you can’t keep them from stalling, well you had no business winning the game anyway.

Jack Butcher's Loogootee squads in the 60's-80's were great at this, as was Bill Musselman's Small College 60's Ashland (OH) teams. Funny, but when they made it to the "Elite 8" in Evansville, most of the hype around their team was centered on the students, who carried their own high-backed, gold wooden bench w/ "Ashland Eagles" painted in purple and displaced the Roberts Stadium folding chairs BEFORE entering the court for warmups. The downtown area hotels were always required to beef up "security" because of these ROWDIES, who treated their E-ville experience as a sort of "Spring Break." :D

Teams that utilized the STALL GAME shot HIGH % FT's, otherwise the tactic would not have been successful. Did you ever see any of these teams?

75%+ free throw shooting would be top-50 in NCAA D1. It would be one of the top-25 teams in the NBA.

I only go to maybe one Indiana high school basketball game every 5 years. I live in Texas, but I may see a local game when I go back home. If you say they’re shooting 75%+ then so be it, I’ll believe you. Statistically, though, that seems relatively impossible.
