An assistant coach for the Illinois State basketball team and several boosters were killed last night when the plane in which they were returning to Blo-No from Indianapolis crashed short of the runway in Central Illinois. What a terrible tragedy.

Here's the coach's bio from the Illinois State website: http://goredbirds.com/staff.aspx?staff=17

Prayers go out to the Redbird program.

This tragedy actually claimed two Illinois State University employee lives. The first was Associate Head Coach Torrey Ward (listed above) and Deputy Director of Athletics Aaron Leatch. Five other local businessmen perished in the crash as well. They were on there way back from the NCAA national championship in Indianapolis when there plane crashed just two miles from the Bloomington airport. Very sad.
