The Recruit Level
First off, Jason -- we've taken a hard look at more than 40 FCS fan sites. Yours is EASILY one of the top five. If you have a chance to talk sometime, could we?

To all the Indiana State football fans, we just completed a piece on your 2017 recruiting class. I talked to half a dozen kids, some with offers, some with just serious interest. I'd say this class is off and running.

We'd love to have you read our piece we published today. This is the ninth in a series of MVFC recruiting pieces we've run over the past 10 days or so.

Thanks again for letting a media hack like myself come on board and see how you all do things!

Thank you Sycamore Proud ... exchanged some messages with Jami DeBerry, outstanding human being and the recruits love him. Obviously Coach can't talk even a little bit about those kids, but he seemed to think the coverage was decent. Also heard back from Missouri State head coach Dave Steckel and Southern Illinois head coach Nick Hill, who thought we did a decent job.

Moving forward with the CAA this week.....

Thanks for the coverage, Brian, but Titus McCoy is a running back.

Here is why the scouting reports call him a cornerback: As a freshman he was a backup corner when Center Grove had multiple injured running backs and had to bring Titus to the offensive side of the ball. He debuted in a game against Lawrence Central and had a HUGE game with 247Sports in attendance. They wrote him up big-time as a corner. He hasn't played on the defensive side of the ball since that game. He plays running back and he is being recruited as a running back.

Still, thanks for the coverage.

Why don't you let him earn his roster spot before you come on here repeatedly insisting that he's a RB? He's a freshman that most here have never heard of, I hope he is amazing and we're all thankful he came to play RB at ISU, but until he gets on the field and proves himself he's just another player lucky to play any position the coaches give him. I honestly don't give a crap what position he thinks he's supposed to play. You're coming to ISU. Earn it or leave.

Geeezzz Bent -- not sure what that was all about. I didn't see anything about this kid "thinking" he had a position he was "suppose" to play.

That said, probably 99% of all incoming freshmen football, basketball, baseball players have a pretty good idea of what position he has been recruited to play in college. And yes, sometimes that changes after they arrive.

But there wasn't any mention above of this kid expecting anything -- it was about some confusion over what position he had played in high school. And I don't see anything being said "repeatedly insisting" above ? ? ?

Seriously? LOL.

Guys, I think some of you are confused.

This article is about guys we're recruiting, not those currently on the team. These are guys we're recruiting for the 2017 signing class.

If you read fan forums(not just ours) you would think that every game would end in a riot by the fans. not between opposing team's fans but between fans of one team, possibly even 2 riots where the fans of opposing teams never interact.

Love that! Any pub for the FCS schools is good. Skill position players come in at a certain position, and oftentimes switch positions as we all well know. I always told the boys, who cares where you play, just get on the field.

I was a defensive lineman....my first day I thought they gave me the wrong color jersey.....they didnt. turns out i was an offensive lineman

Ha ha ... you know, the first time I ever covered recruiting was in the mid 1990s when I was a student at the UnivOfFlorida. I went to signing day and Jimmy Collins, who was the RC for Spurrier (and is now at Duke) came out and handed us all a list. The players were listed as either "Backs" or "Line". Period. And Spurrier didn't sign special teams guys, ha ha (sort of arrogant about it, actually).

I think one of your fellow posters above put it perfectly -- you really never know until they get on campus, do ya? Put some weight on, get into the system ... redshirt. Anquan Boldin was one of the best QBs I ever saw in HS. He was recruited to FSU and couldn't even beat out a crappy QB like Chris Rix for playing time, so he switched to WR and .... well, the rest is history.

Thanks for reading what we did, and you all DEFINITELY have one of the best sites I've seen. This one is so clean, crisp, active and informative. Most of the MVFC sites seem P-5 level when it comes to interest and design. Fun to see and we want to partner with you.
