If you want to cut the program then you're not really a "Sycamore football fan".

I'm willing to die on this hill. I don't think the program as a whole is the problem; the problem is the coaching. ISU funds the program now like it should, unlike 15 years ago, now we just have to find the right coach. There's not too many programs out there that could win running a middle school offense like we do. I understand wanting to run the ball, but we've been trying the same dumb crap now for 4 or 5 years now. It isn't working and it never will. If Mallory can't at least get halfway creative with it like introducing some option, play action, and whatnot then he's going to get himself fired in a few years.

Don't think you quite got what I was getting at. For a group that wants others to quit beating a dead horse, maybe they should drive conversation about the team?

Here we are 24 hours from kickoff and the only post remotely related was your overarching post about Mallory's offense. For being one of the likely winnable games remaining on the schedule, sure seems like there is zero interest even by the most ardent supporters.

Winning cures all. Cade is playing so let hope he can add life to the team. Understand he can't do it all but he will give us a better shot of winning.

Drive the conversation about supporting the team, on here? LOL.

I'd say ardent supporters are probably tired of being attacked, put down and minimized by the ardent haters....so there's that.

Doesn’t have to be about “supporting the team”, how about anything?

His point was that for all these people who claim football is so important to the school and should be funded etc even those people don’t care enough about the one winnable game we have on the schedule to make a post.

If this was a basketball game you would have three pages of posts before tipoff. Hell the baseball thread about scrimmages has two pages of posts. Here we are on game day of the football game and it’s crickets chirping.

So Jason’s point is valid. Where are all these fans of the football team? Certainly not pumped up enough to come on sycamore pride and actually talk about the game and program they feel is worth the 5million dollar investment the school makes.

Business 101. Never a good idea to sink money into a product that people don’t want.

Absolutely. It’s sad enough we have to deal with all the others that think ISU is a joke. Now, we have so called “Die Hard” Sycamore Supporters that constantly throw down because we suck, to cut the program.
You guys are Despicable to me. Go ahead and watch your Ohio State, and don’t watch ISU. I won’t speak for anyone else, but you’re as sorry as it comes being a so called Sycamore Fan.
Spare me the money issues. 96% of FCS and FBS teams lose money with football!
Go Away!!

That's cap as the kids say. All the responses in this thread, most provoked in the opposite direction, and still nothing about the team. Nobody is "attacking" anyone about posting in game threads about the actual game. Feel free to go back into any historical thread and find something -- you won't.

@Sycamorefan96 is the ONLY person that actually follows the team closely. Unless he drives the conversation, maybe a few others may watch the games but they don't actually follow the program. The whole point is majority of you "Sycamore Football Fans" don't care enough to either 1) follow the program closely or 2) talk about the program when times are down.

So here are some things I'd like your thoughts on:

Think Murray's Coach Hood has any revenge on his mind? After all, we bounced him out of his last playoff appearance and he was promptly gone from EKU after the next year? He employs the same style of rushing attack that he did there racking up almost 200 yards a game in rushing and we're giving up that much. How do you think our defensive coordinator is planning to stop that as we rank like 90th (out of 122 teams) against the run? We rank dead last in FCS scoring offense -- 122nd at 4.7ppg. What does Mallory and his OC whip out of their asses to change this?

They can start by hanging on to the football.

I'm willing to debate the "drop football topic" all day, but I do wish that the game threads could simply stay game threads. I'm going to sound like a college aged fruitcake for saying this, but it would be enjoyable to have a "safe space" to talk about ISU football with fellow ISU football fans without having to debate the people that want the program canned.

Kind of breaking my rule from above here, but personally my interest in ISU as a whole would tank if the football program was ever dropped. Ever since the transfer portal and NIL has been introduced, my interest in college basketball has honestly gone way down anyways. My interest was already decreasing with the crooked selection process that strongly favors the Power conference schools. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but ever since I strated following the conference realignment process and learning about how that truly works, I strongly believe that CBS (and perhaps TBS, TNT and TruTV to a lesser extent) gets a very very strong say in who makes the tournament anyways (within reason obviously) since they are the ones footing the bill. For example, CBS has a contract with the Mountain West Conference and I've noticed that every single time one of their schools is on the bubble they somehow always find their way into the bracket. Just like in conference realignment, a move at the Power "4" plus BE, AAC, and MWC level doesn't happen unless the TV networks approve of it. The TV networks and the power schools basically run the NCAA now, plain and simple. Don't get me wrong I still enjoy MVC ball, but I couldn't care less about the non-conference games at this point. They're just a complete waste of my time and the MVC needs to expand the schedule to a full 22 games. I'd happily drop ANY two NC opponents on our schedule for the two MVC opponents that we're not playing twice. If there was ever a split in basketball like there is in football (1A and 1AA), I would celebrate it. Look at that center up at Purdue getting around a million dollars a year in NIL money. What a complete disgrace, and how are we ever going to compete with that? Answer: we aren't, but at least we can still complete with Bradley and Southern Illinois.

Anyone see where South Dakota is up 21-10 on NDSU in the 3rd Quarter? I'm wondering how the Coyotes will end up blowing that one.
