Pitiful!!!!! Must read, this is the most important statistic, 22% 4 yr gradulating rate, UNACCEPTABLE, think about how much revenue the school would have even if they bump up the rate 10%. ISU, should refund kids/families a certain refund an amount if they graduate in 4 -6 yrs. I was at last yrs oaken bucket game and tailgated with a guy who specializes in helping colleges raise their grad rates and he said Ball State was as low as ISU 5 yrs ago, they brought him in to fix it.
This is a great link to study:

Let's take the positive information from the article, highest ACT scores ever at ISU. It is possible that the retention rate will go up
That's the discussion we're been having on here for a decade. ISU has long gone after the easy Government Pell money targeting first time college students and students for less than great socioeconomic backgrounds because most of them easily qualify for that financial aid. While that is noble in some respects, it's led to those poor retention rates and a lot of those kids should likely have been in trade or alternative programs. I feel this is also a big reason why the school lacks culture, pride and attendance for events has waned.
Having watched Tanner go through the Honors College and Networks programs, I can tell you have State has very taxing curriculum for high achievers that many outside of the school don't know about. I've seen them start to advertise a bit such as the Engineering program on the Keystone Fashion Mall parking garage so I think that is why you are seeing (or will continue to see) higher test scores from incoming students. They need to hire some legit recruiters that will go into high functioning schools and start spreading awareness about the Presidents, Networks and other scholarships as well as all of the top flight programs they now have.
Many of you have also posted anecdotal stories about ISU teacher grads never hearing from the school. They should treat those folks as recruiters (especially the high school teachers) and give them a yearly care package that includes a coffee mug/Tervis tumbler, stuff to display in their room as well as some sort of portal access to submit recommendations on high achiever kids to be marketed for those scholarships.
For those that didn't know, Tanner graduated and is now working at Rolls Royce in downtown Indianapolis alongside several other State grads and couldn't picture himself having gone anywhere else.
