It has been announced by the NFL today (Monday, January 4, 2010) that the Indianapolis Colts will play their first playoff game at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, January 16 at Lucas Oil Stadium. Who they will play won't be known until next weekend, but the possible opponents would be the Bengals, Jets or Ravens. Indianapolis would play the lowest remaining seeded AFC team.

So, it will go on while we play at UNI. And if the Colts win, we play the AFC Championship during the home game with UNI. Who does our terrible scheduling?

Considering we know at what time the Colts will play in the AFC Championship game (God willing!), wouldn't it be prudent to see about moving the ISU home game time to later in the afternoon or evening to avoid such a conflict?

That sounds most reasonable. Is it ego--we don't want to admit we play second fiddle to the Colts? Or is it that, for whatever reason, it can't be done? I would hope that it is not looked at as just being too much trouble to do.

The Valley assigns dates and times for conference games. Plus this game is on TV, so there is likely no way in hell that the game gets moved. Sometimes, it's not our athletic department's fault.

What?! You mean some people won't be able to blame RP or K-Mac for going head to head with the Colts?!?!?!

I didn't point fingers at anyone..just whoever does the scheduling in general. Which is, apparently, the conference.

If it's on TV, what Colts fan would go to the ISU game? That's going to look bad on TV for sure. Is it on TV locally only or will I be able to get it in Indy on Fox Sports?

I don't care if the Colts (or Packers, for that matter) were in the Super Bowl - I'd be in Hulman Center! Those guys mean a lot more to me than a bunch of overpaid tax dollar gluttons...

AGREED! and its an important game, I understand the colt fanhood but how worried are you about the colts? I have more worries about my Sycamores, even if the Rams were in the Super Bowl I would be there saying March on!

Sorry...I'll be at the Colts game...lol

but I'll depend on you guys to keep me updated on the Indiana State game....lol.....

Yeah on second thought maybe my name should have been ColtStateofMind.... If the Sycamores were playing in the post season or something to that effect it would be a different story. It's the NFL playoffs the only professional sport worth watching, I will be watching the Colts game... Def. will have my eye on the score of the Sycamore game though.

On third thought (if their is such a thing) I think I should go to the ISU game, nothing frustrates me more than watching the Colts some times.... lol Who ever knew a 14 win team would be so painful to watch at times? I think we Colts fans expectations are so un realistic, we have been so spoiled over the years.

At least with watching Indiana State you don't have any reason to have high expectations... Not really what I envision, just kind of the truth of the matter. It's been a rough go of it around here the past several years.

I can sort of understand the bandwagon nature of Colts fans (don't get upset, 90% of Colts fans wouldn't have been caught dead at a Colts game 12 years ago), because winning sure is fun. On the other hand, no one on this board, or the other board, is a bandwagon ISU fan, because ISU hasn't really done anything yet to have a bandwagon. That might be coming, but not yet...

But just think about this while you're at your Colts party while the Sycamores play in front of me and DGreenwell and 10 others. If you call the ISU basketball offices and say that your kid sure would like to meet the players and maybe attend a practice, I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts that your request will be accommodated. Now, try the same thing with the Colts and see how loud the laughing is. Yeah, they're good, but they certainly don't give a rat's patootie about you or me or anyone else. They just like to get paid.

I guess that's what gets me. These guys (on the ISU basketball team) are a true part of the community. They live, shop, eat, and play among us. They are approachable, they are friendly, and they realize that you matter to them. The Colts are none of the above. I really have nothing against the Colts, and would love to see them win the Super Bowl, but while ISU's fortunes impact people I actually know, or can get to know, the Colts will never impact my life in that manner, nor the life of anyone I know.

Seems like this whole Colts vs. Trees mentality shows some misplaced priorities. Before you start screaming at me, that's just my opinion. You're entitled to yours, too. I just don't get it.
