Donations shouldn't be tax exempt anyways. I get sick and tired of all of the write offs everyone receives that they quite frankly don't deserve.

What a horrendous take. Charitable donations are not a “write off.”

I take it you never contribute to charity or your church? Would you rather the federal and state governments have to fund charities 100%?

If you want to donate then do it out of generosity, not because you think you'll get some kind of tax break from it. The government(s) already has their fingers in every pie as it is.

Thank you for confirming you never donate money or goods to charity. Also, your last sentence is just a throw away statement that has nothing to do with charitable contributions whatsoever.

If that's the case then maybe they should also get rid of the EIC credit too. Maybe then people will quit popping out a bunch of kids that they can't afford.
Do you even pay taxes? Good lord, dude.

People aren’t popping out kids because of child tax credits. They might be doing it for welfare reasons but the child tax credit has nothing to do with it.

I probably pay more than you, since I don't write off my donations.

No, you probably take the standard deduction which is why you don’t write off your donations.

Well yeah, why wouldn't I? My point is that I don't think anyone should get any kind of deductions. The government should just lower the rates for everyone and have everyone pay the same rate no matter what.

Individuals receiving write offs for donations, having children, paying a different rate for being married, paying a mortgage, etc, is just dumb. You have every moron out there complaining about "the rich" not paying their fair share, while they take every write off imaginable (if they even pay taxes at all).

First of all - what business of it yours the motivation for donating? They earned the money then they earned the right to spend it or donate it however the damn well please.

Secondly, most people who donate do it out of generosity and are not worried about the tax benefits. Sure it’s nice for it to count if you’re itemizing - but it’s typically not the sole motivation.

Birth rate has been dropping for decades. Doesn't seem like too many people are taking advantage.

Remember, if a person isn't donating enough as well as paying enough in property taxes to "surpass" the standard deduction; there's no reason to itemize. I believe the IRS is tracking more returns with standard deduction claims than itemized since the SALT provision was capped...

Are you lumping yourself into that group of "morons" complaining about "the rich"?

Are you now processing tax returns between truck runs?
