As much as I have a migraine from rolling my eyes at some of that stuff, there are too many Terre Haute connections participating for me to boycott.

I support our USA Olympic athletes and hope they kick everyone's ass...(GO Lilly King!!) Anything weird about the opening ceremonies is a flyspeck in the ocean of things I have to worry about

I'll be watching the events I'm interested in. The athletes had nothing to do with the cringefest that was the opening ceremonies.

You've already seen organizations announce they are pulling their ad spend so the networks that designed and allowed it will get hit in the pocketbooks.

I think we have to draw a line in the sand. School teachers are now telling kids they can change their sex but they don't have to tell their parents.

What do I care what France wants to do with their opening ceremony?

Not from France, never been to France and probably never will. If they want to have a bunch of people play dress up and run around in the rain have at it.

I have bigger things to worry about then what French “culture” looks like

And we have a presidential candidate convicted of sexual assault and admits he likes to grab women by the pussy. And millions of people (men) think that is fine and will vote for him.

Which one worries me more as a father of daughters?

And we have a presidential candidate ...
I am a man voting for Trump. Approve of most of his policies. Policies impact people's lives, not inappropriate locker room talk that was secretly recorded years ago.

Respect those who disagree, not looking for an argument.

I'm not boycotting, but my interest is low, although I hope we win total gold's and medal count, & hope Simone B. does awesome.

If CC and/or Angel Reese were playing, I would have greater interest.

Watched some rugby yesterday. My buddy told me the opening ceremony was really weird, but I didn't watch that and I'm not interested enough to look it up. Personally I'm a way bigger fan of the Winter Olympics, as I find the skiing and snowboard races to be very entertaining to watch. I also enjoy watching hockey a bit as well as the bobsleighs.

Your first sentence was a complete LIE. Keep that garbage talk off of here. I'm disappointed in you for repeating false narratives. Do your own research and don't repeat morning Joe. That's what causes ignorant votes.
You better rethink where you get your news.

Yeah, it would definitely be a better example for your daughters to learn how to sleep their way to the top with men of importance. I mean if you want to call out someone at least be honest about Trump, Biden, and Harris. None of them are saints by any means. I don't care who you vote for, but this post is just ridiculous.

Is it just me, but I don't think that talk was inappropriate. I admit that I have said "pussy" before. He was just merely stating how easy women were with celebrities. I think that is common knowledge.

So is there anything the guy could do that you would actually hold him responsible for?

My point still stands. Based on prior behavior, if my daughter(s) are at a dinner with a drag queen in attendance or with Trump, I would be more nervous about them being in a room with Trump

But maybe I don’t watch enough Fox News to tell me how wonderful the man is

You are upset about a foreign nation having an opening ceremony with men dressed as women or vice versa, and how teachers are talking kids into sex changes (even though my guess is you don’t teach and have not been in a high school classroom in years) and these things represent how the world is falling apart and decaying.

Yet we have a presidential candidate who admits to grabbing women sexually (and you blame the woman, nice), convicted felon, was willing to throw out the Constituation when it doesn’t work for him, makes fun of POWs and the handicapped, and has ripped off most of the small business people he has ever employed and not only do people vote for him, they celebrate and make excuses for him.

And somehow the fact that he might win doesn’t show how far our country has lowered its standards of behavior? Everything he does to women and his perceived enemies is ok, as long as you aren’t gay or in a dress.

Just amazed at what people choose to prioritize and worry about over other (seemingly) more important things.

I was not looking for an argument with Bluethunder, so I ceded that point to him.

I remember thinking about 8 years ago that the sound bite sounded inappropriate, but forget the context. Not judging the guy. I vote based on policy.

I remember feeling bad for Billy Bush, who was listening/conversing with Trump on the recording. His career took a big hit when the media spread the now infamous recording.

Agreed! If you have ever been there, The French have the weirdest taste for fashion, art, and the theatre. For me, it’s about the architecture that I can’t believe how they built these fabulous structures many years ago.

The Dems have gone from pee pads to knee pads.

This is me.

It's breads and circuses. They (you can define who they are) have done a fantastic job at getting people focused on identity politics and shit that just doesn't matter while we're racing towards becoming Rome.

Believe US tax receipts to debt interest expense were single digits prior to 2022, shot to 10% in 2023, and are reported well past 25% in 2024. A recent news article said that some month's interest payments have been 75% of gross tax receipts. Meanwhile every 100 days we're adding 1 trillion more to the national debt. We're in a heap of fucking trouble and people want to worry about how people want to identify.

I know Republicans have been dragged for the idea that they will have to push retirement age, but for anyone that can do basic math, it is the harsh reality that social security is broke and there will not be money there in the future. Once the debt gets to a certain point, medicare will be up next or we'll just turn on the money printer which will further push the debt load.

As a side topic, if anyone is interested, check out Broken Money by Lyn Alden. Finished it a couple months ago.

Don’t disagree with this at all. Both parties have some very serious, difficult questions to answer.

I brought trump into this because I still don’t understand why people bring up morals and morality the guy always gets a pass.

You want to boycott the Olympics, fine by me. But help me understand your logic behind that. You boycott the Olympics because you deem the opening ceremony immoral but you don’t have a moral problem with trump’s criminal behavior, or his behavior towards women by admitting he assaults them, or cheating on his wife, etc. the list goes on. If anything shows how society is willing to accept behavior that just ten years ago was disqualifying it is this.

Help me understand how drag queens are so morally repugnant we should ban the Olympics but we can excuse trump and his behavior?

I could understand someone making the case they both are/were immoral but I don’t understand criticizing one and making excuses for the other.

And if the response is “Trump didn’t do any of this” or that it is all a “media lie”, just don’t even bother responding. At least have a little respect for other peoples’ intelligence than to recycle that garbage.

Thanks for the book suggestion. Always looking for new things to read.
