Might be to soon to tell. Considering I have not seen Kelly play in person since he was at Marshall. But his stats in the final months of Big Ten play suggest that he might be that tallented. I think he does have the ability to play in league when all is said and done.

He has great size and the ability to beat people off the bounce. I think most people are suprised by his length. He has the ability to block shots, he is a decent defender. I mean after he wins back to back MVC POY honors I think that the NBA scouts will be pretty impressed. The kid can play! Looking forward to this...

Come on, Morgan, don't hold back. Tell us what you really think!!!

Well ITF,

I just want to be myself. It wouldn't be like me to hold anything back. If you don't like the way I asked this NBA question then fine but answer this.

What will Kelly's numbers be in his first season as a Sycamore when ever that is?

I think it will look something like this:

32mins
16.5 pts
4 asst.
4rbs
2stl

Thats a real rough guess... I might want to freshen that up once I see how high you are on the kid... lol

Nothing wrong with your est.
Did you see the Tribune? Not counting the freshmen, Coach gave the positions of 8 players for the 1-4 spots. I think he's planning on spreading the minutes. I'd be surprised if anyone plays much more than 30 min. Could be interesting.

I would say you are pretty much on target with that estimate. I was just ribbin' 'ya, I think you posed a reasonable question. My only difference would be that I would like to see some more assists, but if he does what you wrote, that'll be awesome!!!!

Well I am Jake Kelly! Duh!

Don't you wonder why I knew I was going to be at Indiana State before you all. And I knew that I was lieing to the paper but how could I tip my hand before the season even ended? I mean really...

So I think I can:
1. Win MVC POY (Twice for good measure...)
2. Go to the leauge (The NBA not that over seas stuff)
3. Avg. the stats I have just provided
4. Put Indiana State back on the map
5. Help put people in the seats at the Hulman Center. Along with all my local teamates!

Well, since you're Jake and all, do me a favor. Bump the scoring average to 20.0 ppg. There's just something different about a 20 ppg scorer as opposed to a 17 ppg scorer. It's been a long, long time since ISU had someone break 20 for a whole season. If you'd like to push it to 25, that would be fine, too.

Spreading the minutes should come in handy for pre-conference and post season tourneys. Would be nice to go 10 deep and not have a big fall off in talent when going to the 2nd five...on paper this appears to be a distinct possibility considering who's coming in and who's returning.

Oh, and I think if Kelly works at it hard...gains some muscle mass, he'll be good enough for the next level.

If I score 25 a game next year I want to go ahead and announce to the public that I am going pro. But if the Tribune trys to pin me down just before the MVC tourney I am going to have to lie and tell them that I am staying at Indiana State. I want my BS degree! ;)

You're ate up man.

I posted this on another thread, but I don't know where it went. Anyway, between getting his release from Iowa and giving his verbal to ISU, Kelly got offers from several schools, including Kentucky and Notre Dame. This should be fun!!!

I'm ready to be good NOW!!! Throwing Jake in the mix just adds another level to an already exciting group of returners. Based on the growth we saw in the last month or so of the season, I was already expecting top 5 MVC next year. If we get Kelly next year, we just might be higher than that.

Still gotta get some consistency from the bigs, but having a 6'6" PG has got to be an advantage, even inside...

This move really is about family for Jake. The country may not see him as much if he's at ISU but the pro scouts will find him (as if they haven't already!).

I dont think he is NBA material, not quite big enough, but we will see. It should be fun to watch
You mean weight wise? I'd imagine he'll add 10lbs over the next couple seasons and that will put him on par with most SGs in the NBA at 6-foot-6, 195 pounds.
