Does anyone know where I can find ISU wallpaper and ringtones (ISU fight song) for my cell phone? There used to be a link on gosycamores.com, but I think they lost the provider. Thanks.

I continued looking into Indiana State cell phone wallpaper/ringtones after posting the above inquiry several months ago, and ultimately I was directed to the guy in charge of ISU's sports marketing. He seemed to agree that it was a good idea and indicated that he'd research the possibilities, but there seeems to have been little progress.

If anyone besides me would be interested in having ISU ringtones and wallpaper available for your cell phone, please drop a line to Jeremiah Turner. His contact info is below.

I would like the March On,Wabash Cannonball, and the old Indian song they use to play before the March On......back in the day with the dancing Indian Mascots

I have those songs in MP3 format that I downloaded from the ISU Music department website a while back. I then uploaded them to my phone and use them as a ringtone. I never converted them to a ringtone or anything, but my phone lets me use an MP3 as a ringtone.

I will send them to Boda and see what he can do about getting them posted...I know that I have March On, Alma Mater and Wabash Cannonball....I know that I don't have the Indian Song.

But anyway, I use them as ring tones...I know there is free software out there that lets you convert them to ringtones if you don't have a smartphone, but I didn't have to worry about that. And for giggles I also have the ISU band playing the Superfriends themesong too.

That would be great, Sack. Megan McKenna responded to my most recent inquiry, and the prospect of having cell phone downloads available on the athletics site didn't sound too promising:

Our website provider XOS Sports is the brains behind that- they used to supply those 'toys' and recently dropped those features. I spoke with John Sherman about it, and was told that until they pick up another cell application supplier, will not support those functions. Kind of a bummer. I will keep you posted if I hear anything else.

There will be an ISU Phone App coming out soon.
It won't have wallpaper and ringtones on it immediately, but that can (and will) certainly be put on the list of things to offer. It will have schedules, results, photos, etc. for sports... as well as campus events and news.

Just sent the following ISU songs to Boda...not trying to give him more work but I am sure he can do something to make them downloadable.

ISU Marching Sycamores - Alma Mater, Wabash Cannonball and March On!

A Marching Band playing - Superfriends Theme Song from 80's cartoon (I thought it was appropraite for basketball season considering the good work that Megan has been doing with the poster and the programs.

That is what I have. I can't seem to find any reference or file that is related to the "Indian song' which you asked about. I know what you are talking about but I would doubt anyone will find that...it has been over 20 years since we had the Indian Mascot and even if someone had it recorded it would probably be on memorex or older. If someone can find an actual name for that song...we might be able to locate it from somewhere else or another "band". But I doubt it.

Hope this helps.

Is the ISU phone app through blackboard?? Just curious..

No. They have one... but that is not the route that we are going. (there were some serious limitations to their app).
They do plan to have blackboard integration eventually..

Have you seen what Texas Tech has done with their blackboard mobile app? It is AWESOME! You can watcha video about it on the blackboard site...amazing stuff

Sack,

For some reason I can't see your last post (Jason, here is your example!)... but I can see in your "recent posts" that you are referencing Texas Tech. Yes, they use the Blackboard app.. I have seen it... It is the same as Duke, Stanford, Florida State, etc... they are all very VERY similar and very rigid with their design, look/feel and options.

ISU's will start out very similar to those as well, however, the method ISU has chosen will allow for greater flexibility - as well as delivery across all platforms and all services at the same time.

The ISU app will have the Maps, Employee Directory, Course Catalog, Sports Info, emergency numbers, local hotel/eatery numbers, News, Campus Events all available without login... and then students will be able to login and see specific information about them.

I dare say that they do not have anything on their app that ISU's won't have as well.

That is GREAT news!!! Whomever is pushing this on campus, GREAT JOB!!! ISU has needed this for the past 2 years, but if they can deliver it across iPhone, Android and blackberry at the same time that is even better than what I have seen.

Either way that is great. If anyone happens to look at this site that is a part of this, make sure it allows alumni to update their contact info!!!! That would improve a great deal of things for both the alumni office and for ISU in general.

It will be across all 3 platforms (as well as native iPad soon - not just iphone x2)

I agree about Alumni Updates... I'll make sure that there are those that hear that suggestion. Current functions will all be "pushing" data to the clients... They will begin to develop upload/update capabilities later.

Just was at an alumni event this weekend where alumni were having to wait for like 5 or more minutes just to write their name in on a list...well if there had been an app that they could download on their phone and input their info..there or later, that would make it sooooooo much better!! And allow dozens and dozens to do it at the same time...if not hundreds at this event.

I agree about the phone app, meantime, they could set up laptops (iPads) at the event to collect that info much easier...
I'll make sure to mention to the alumni/foundation office about the desire to have that ability.

apparently they have tried that before and it made it worse...bottlenecked the line even more because some alumni didn't understand what to do, some took much longer to type, etc.

what I am suggesting is that if it were an app, then alumni could just "check in" or submit their change info "if they had an app capable phone" remember many do not have a smart phone. And an Ipad makes sense for alumni like me or you, but I can't tell you how many alumni wouldn't be able to figure that thing out. So they need both at an event and just having one or two computers continues the problem of bottlenecking because alumni still have to wait...but if you gave alumni a card when they got there that told them about the app. and then you said, "you can wait in line or you can go to the app and input your info" that would make the line much shorter because I would just download the app, whereas some would still just sign in. I am sure you get what I am saying

I agree Sack.. what I tried to say (not very well), is that there are many ways to collect the info.
Setup up some laptops, pass out "address update cards", have some ISU Alumni folks there with ipads to gather the info while talking to people... and pass out business cards introducing the ISU Phone App when it's done.
