Sorry, meant to post this in this thread and somehow put it the transfers thread first.

Looks like they updated the roster again. The new QB and the longsnapper are on there.

they were added early last week I believe, been on there a while now.

Question... by my count there are about 93 names on that roster (give or take). If there are only 63 scholarships to go around are a lot of those redshirts or walk ons? How does that work?

Most of the out of state players are full scholarship, most of the Fr/So Indiana players are partial scholarship. Redshirt players are also scholarship. Without knowing the exact number, I think about 10-15 players are walk-ons.

FCS (1AA) football teams are allowed to distribute up to 63 full-scholarship equivalents (whole or partial) among up to 85 players. There is a limit of 30 first-time scholarship players in any given year. It would make sense that the difference between the total number of roster players and the 85 possible players receiving scholarships would be the number of walk-ons. If the team gives scholarships to less than 85 players then that would mean that many more walk-ons.

Keyt is the starting long snapper. he is also playing the DE position and is on the kick off return squad as well. he is #58 6' 2 1/2 242. not sure why he is not listed, but i can assure you that he is NOT returning to INDIANA.

Keyt is NOT returning to Indiana, not sure why he is not listed on the roster yet? He was given the starting long snapper job last week, he is also playing DE and playing on the kick return team. #58 6' 2 1/2 242.

Trent Lancaster from Northview High School is "gray shirting" this year. This essentially means he is a part time student this semester and will go on scholarship in January as a full time student and that is when his NCAA eligibility clock will start. He will start participating fully in the spring of this year. Gray shirt is becoming more common in football and was made famous by Houston Nutt in the SEC more then anyone. Google it and it will explain it better
