excellent chance for John to break his own school record in the 10,000 and break the all time MVC outdoor 10,000 record, which was just set last year at this meet by the Illinois State kid (28:41.23). Hopefully both he and Tristan set new PR's, very glad they get to run in these meets.
 
Yup, great article, only mistake i found was it stated angie is looking for her first outdoor title. She won it all in 2013 when Drake hosted.

Good catch! Craig Person really does a good job covering Track and XC both collegiate and high school. I am not sure those sports get the same level of coverage in other towns that we get here in this town. Growing up in Terre Haute we use to complain alot about the lack of coverage for Track and XC, now and again we will hear those close to the program(s) grumble about lack of coverage or maybe lack of perspective. Meaning, if a kid gets a National Title shouldn't they be on the front page and celebrated a little more than they have been? Probably a fair point. But for the most part, Track and XC get a good amount of coverage for secondary sports. Hell, we have multiple people on this forum alone that follow, comment and promote our Track and XC programs and they have little affiliation with the program if any at all. It really makes us unique in a lot of ways.
 
Selby's race should be underway out there, hopefully results will be posted when the race is over.
 
just found out Selby is racing at Stanford with Mascari! So he got bumped up to a better, faster race!
 
over at EIU Alethia Marrero wins the women's 400 meter hurdles. Conditions are not good, very windy, times will be slower.
 
Sycamores Off To Solid Start At Big Blue Classic

The Sycamore Track & Field Teams battled the windy and cool conditions to post several solid performances on Friday evening (April 3) at the Big Blue Classic on the campus of Eastern Illinois University. Over 1,000 athletes are competing in this event on the opening weekend of outdoor track and field season.

ISU outdoor track season starts today/tomorrow!

Most of us were sleeping last night when John Mascari threw down another school record in the 10k 28:38 which is just a few seconds off the Olympic B Standard. By my count he was 6 among college runners, 13th in the field that had several professionals.

That is a really impressive time!

Not only did Mascari set the ISU school record, he set the all time MVC 10k record last night, running 28:38.22, that broke the record of 28:41.32 set last year at this same meet by Illinois State's Ryan Rutherford. So he got to enjoy that record all of one year!

Tristan Selby was in the 2nd heat of the 10k (this morning, like at 2:00am!) and ran a PR as well, by less than a second actually. He ran 29:45.58, his previous PR was 29:45.83.

GREAT races by these 2 last night (or earlier this morning actually!)

Indiana State junior John Mascari continues to re-write the Sycamore Track and Field record book while also notching a place in the Missouri Valley Conference annuls as well with his performance late Friday/early Saturday morning in the 10,000 meters at the 40th annual Stanford Invitational.

The Indiana State women's track and field team finished second while the men posted a fourth place finish at the EIU Big Blue Classic. The women's side featured 13 teams while the men had 12 teams.
