according to the indy star website this evening, iu football coach bill lynch has dismissed star quarterback/wide receiver kellen lewis from the team for violating team rules. he was suspended from the team last spring and has now ended his career at iu.

now the big question...he is a fifth-year senior....dont know if he can afford to transfer to another i-a school....he could transfer to a i-aa school, like indiana state, and be eligible this fall...but would the sycamores want him....as mentioned, he has had his off-field problems the last two years at iu.....

Coach Miles took a chance on a troubled young QB last year and we know how that ended. I know my opinion is worth no more than what you paid to read it. Having said that I feel ISU needs to build a quality program with quality players who are quality young men. Pass on the problem guys who are cast off by others.

I'll take all the transfers I can get -- as long as they aren't of questionable character or beyond repair in the classroom. I'd have to pass on Lewis.

Agreed. As bad as IU needed him and they decided to cut him loose... Well, that a warning sign for sure.

I'm torn on this one.... He is a heck of an athlete........... but just one more year left to play?????

I think if Trent Miles was put in another position to take in a troubled high school kid with the ability of Schmidtke, he would do it 9 times out of 10. The worst thing that can happen is what happened with Schmidtke.... He gets in trouble and you have to ask him to leave...... But what happens if the 1 of the 10 kids straightens up and becomes a very good football player???? Is it worth it then???? I say YES!

Raetz used to do this all the time. Sometimes it worked.... Sometimes it didn't. Some of the best players we ever had came from situations like that.

I would say absolutely not to bring him on. He had an attitude on a recruiting trip we took there last year, and would bring some of the same bad chemistry that these coaches have purged over the last year. It's not worth it

With only one year of eligibility left, it's not worth it.............

It was a similar situation when Jeremy Finch was transferring from Florida and considering Indiana State. I would have been ok with taking that kid since he had 3 years left and hope he turns out ok.
