Tribune star didn't sound to optimistic - I was at the game and when it happened it didn't look good... It looked like he blew it out or something the way he just went down, obviously I don't think that is the case... I am guessing that he will miss 2 weeks with this injury and I think everyone saw the value of Jake Kelly last night. Jake leaves the game and we are down 18 points within 10 minutes of him leaving the game...

Other than that I am not commenting on that game last night, if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all. And I have nothing nice to say about last night, it was a long drive back to the Haute.

That's the one thing I am looking forward to hearing about is if Kelly will be playing on Friday before I plan to buy tickets to the game, because it seems if he isn't out there they are playing poor basketball.

Not sure of the "source," but on the other Board I saw this:

MCL Sprain-left knee-apparently no ACL damage-swelling-will most likely miss some games

If this true, do we we "activate" Odum, given our reduced backcourt depth?

Tribstar per Kelly "Doesn't think it's an injury that he can play with, going to take some time"

I would think he'll sit 3-4 games, and see how it goes (barring nothing is torn)

Good Luck! -- Jake and ISU Sycamores!!

Interesting point you make about Odum. He does travel with the team and he was in uniform last night, thus he could have been activated at any point. My question is this, does Jake Odum travel to every road game and is he always in uniform ready to go if called upon?

I would hate to see them waste nearly half of his season and have to activate him now. But it makes you wonder if coach will consider it? I doubt that he does unless Jake's injury turns out to be more serious and if Reed, Marshall or Lathan goes down in the next game or so - at that point coach would have to consider it.

I say "NO CHANCE" -- I think you'll see more of Printy & Carter. ISU is still 5-6 deep at the Guard Position, why would we want to "forfeit" a year for Jake Odum.

My guess is no let Jake sit out the year and enjoy 4 full years of basketball. I dont think if he misses a few games that it would warrant taking away from Odum . Had this been a season ending injury that happened earlier I would say yes but figure we are almost half way thru this season and to take away his redshirt after he really didnt want to in the first place would be a unfair to him . I do not think we are that shallow at the guard position. This is where we have alot of depth . Its time for the others to step up and play while he is out.

I think if McKenna thought J. Odum was (1) roster spot away from Game Action, he would not have redshirted him.

Now if you begin to see 2-3 Guards go down, then definately -- J. Odum would be activated!

I am not saying he should activate him, but I also don't think he had seen enough of Jake Odum and the rest of his team to know if Jake was going to be "1" roster spot from playing. Coach had no way of knowing that he was going to have to suspend Harry Marshall twice in the first 10 games of the season, or he might not have red shirted Jake Odum. He had no way of knowing that Jake Kelly was going to get hurt, or he might not have red shirted him. He had no way of knowing that Lathan would have to serve a 1 game suspension, or he might not have red shirted him. This all in the first 11 or so odd games to start the season, so what's next?

My guess is after having some time to watch this team play and having seen what Jake Odum has done in practice that Coach might have a little different opinion on red shirting Jake Odum. Because from what I have seen this year, Jake Odum could play for this team. You telling me that he couldn't bring more to the table than Reed has so far? Come on...

We had seven (7) assists last night. When I look at the type of games that Printy & Carter bring to the lineup, I don't see much (if any) improvement in THIS area.

Yeah, definitely don't activate him. He deserves a full four years. As for Kelly's injury, I hope it's not serious, but the team has to play better than it did last night, with or without him.

I agree 100% look to the future with jake he made the sacrafice let him play 4 years. And the current players need to step it up or we will be no better than 7th in the league like predicted.

Marshall must step forward and BE THE LEADER he's supposed to be as a Senior!!

I get absolutely sick, listening to Pensky on TV Broadcasts saying how H. Marshall is used to carrying more of the load... Well now is the time -- for the next 4-5 games, lets see it. (Not just shooting wild shots, but get everyone else involved)

Some of you guys are showing signs of "Polian Disease"...is it time for a commercial?

Any idea how 5'10" frosh Kendall Brown (E-ville Harrison) played last night for SIU? 19 min...4 reb - 2 Assists. What were the "highs" for ISU in these areas?

In terms of Jake's injury I think it's still a little early to tell...I'd go as far as saying that I wouldn't expect him to play the next two games for sure. After that, who knows...I'm sure an MRI will be forthcoming. If it's anything like Justin Carter's (CU forward) knee injury, slight tear to MCL, Jake could be back w/in 2 or 3 weeks.

But again, no telling just yet I think...just have to wait and see.

Yeah I think it's fair to say that Kelly is out the next game for sure. You can go ahead and put me on the record for that, not a chance he plays the next game. I am pretty sure it's just a sprained knee and it's really hard to say how he will come back from that. Your body works a little different when you are 6'6 like that... They need him, when is the last time Creighton started 0 and 2 in the Valley? The chances of that happening are slim to none. I am inclined to give them a mulligan on that game, but then again still fuming.
