We’re going to mess them up good. I’m calling it now. They aren’t very good, and we should be coming in with a massive chip on our shoulder. They don’t know what hit ‘em!

Unless I am wrong....SIU played Saturday, again on Monday and then versus ISU on Wednesday. Ours will be their third game in
five days....just sayin'.

I'm expecting a win. I'm expecting a win every time out from here on out except maybe against Drake.

We have shown we can compete against the top of the MVC and put ourselves in position to win those games. A little much to “expect” us to win every game except for Drake.

There are some folks on here really underestimating Missouri State. They are a BAD matchup for us! We had no one to guard Prim the past two years and certainly don’t this season. Not to mention what Mosley and Black could do to our wings.

It's considerably easier to rotate the legs of 10 players as opposed to 7. As a few others here on SycPride have alluded to, our last Saturday performance @ HC may have seen fatigue set in late in the game. When combined w/ the Covid flu virus, not an optimum situation to be in as an athlete.

I've made the Carbondale drive on 5 occasions, and it is shockingly brutal...especially after a loss (which is most times). Can't really do the midweek trips anymore so I'm staying home this year. However, I like our chances if we get anything close to a legitimate referee.

So you're saying you would go if you could?? :):):)

It's less than 8 hours until tip-off and I have to wonder...

Can we win a Valley game after going up 15+ points?
Can we go up 15+ points vs the Salukis?
Can Julian Larry shut down Marcus Domask? Or at least keep him in check?
Will our team defense keep the Salukis bench in check? (the bench scored 30 points in their last game)
How many Sycamores will see the court tonight?
How many will play more than 10 minutes? How about more than 15 minutes?
Will Cam Henry get into foul trouble early? How about late?
Will Cooper hit 38% or better on his three pointers?
How many assists for Bledson? How many of those assists will be dazzling?
Will Josh Schertz earn his first Valley technical?
Do you have any fond memories that involve Carbondale, IL?

SIU has a tendency to start very slow and come around in the second half. We have the opposite tendency. It would be nice to get the lead early and then actually keep it!

I'm going to keep preaching this and I don't care how stupid people think it is, but it is a broken maxim in today's college game to continue with help defense in the post and COMPLETELY ASININE to do so when you have a large lead when the 3PFG is the great equalizer in today's game. Shaq, Ewing, Olajuwon, et al aren't walking through the doors anytime soon. Considering you aren't helping at the rim, just playing man defense and contesting shots, the 2FG% is essentially equal, if not lower, than an open 3FG% for most players today.

The fact we continued to double Loyola in the post only for them to kick it to Williamson, Norris, etc. and watch them knock down open 3s makes my blood boil. It is infinitely easier to defend a lead playing 2-for-2 vs trading 3-for-2.

We average 72-73 possessions per game. If you have a 10 point lead, that takes infinite possessions matching buckets or 10 possessions at straight 3-for-2. When you figure most teams have an eFG of 45-50% and a TO% of 15-20%, that means that can now be as few as 3-5 possessions with missed shots/turnovers.

Help defense in college basketball is essentially football's prevent defense -- great in theory but it usually prevents you from winning.
