We have 4 wins at UNI over the past decade, I expect another close game similar to last night, hopefully we're on the winning side Tuesday.
 
Of this Iowa road trip, this is the game for which I was most concerned. UNI is a very good basketball team. Not unbeatable, but very solid across the board. They have a top-50 offense in the nation, still defend reasonably well, and will be playing at home. This is going to be a very tough game.

Spencer Haldeman should still be out for this game, which will help. He's their third leading scorer and a senior leader. But, they still have plenty of talent. AJ Green is obviously a stud, probably the MVC POY, and playing at an extremely high level right now. He struggled with his outside shot earlier in the season, but he's found his stroke and just put up 30+ points the other night. We won't be able to stop him, but hopefully contain him to his normal averages. UNI also has good wing players around Green in Berhow (great scorer), Isaiah Brown (great defender and good rebounder) and Pickford (great slasher and good rebounder). They have size, but Phyfe and Dahl aren't dominant inside by any means. Tre and Jake should be able to handle their own inside against both.

UNI plays very slow, which is a Jacobson M.O. They are a good at playing through the shot-clock and drawing fouls. We have to try and get out and run on these guys, and I'd like to see us press them a bit without Haldeman. They still have capable ball handlers, but they will turn the ball over if we push the envelope.

We'll score on this team. If we defend, we have a chance but we haven't shown we are really willing to do that consistently. I think we lose another close one on the road. I hope I'm proven wrong.

Indiana State Basketball continues its 125th season as they wrap up a two-game road swing in Missouri Valley Conference play on Tuesday, January 7 as they travel to Northern Iowa with tip-off set for 8:00 p.m. (ET) inside the McLeod Center. The game will be televised live nationally on ESPN+. The game will also be broadcast on WIBQ 97.9 FM as well as streamed (audio) on GoSycamores.com.

I won't be getting home from an appointment until possible the 2nd half. Would appreciate if someone posted any updates, highlights, etc. The one downside of being on the West coast -- 5pm or earlier start times.
 
We always seem to play well in frosty falls (despite uni being historically top of the conference), I’m more confident going into this game then I was drake. I think we have enough capable guards for Green to slow him down (keep him under 18). I think we pull this one out in a close one.

It's 8+ hours from Tip-Off and I have to wonder...

Can we beat UNI on the road?!?!?
Will AJ Green go off on us for 30+ points?
Will AJ Green go off on us for 20+ points?
Can we contain AJ Green?
Can UNI be able to contain our freshmen duo of LaRavia and Williams?
Why do so many people (Todd Golden included, sorry Todd) have so much trouble with pronouncing LaRavia's name?
When was the last time that ISU started TWO freshman on a consistent basis, prior to this year?
Has it happened in Lansing's tenure?
Will Cooper score in double digits?
Will the Sycamores score more than 65 points amidst UNI's slow-down game?
Will we hold UNI to "less than" that arbitrary magic number of 63?
Assuming the students are back in session, will the McLeod Center student section be rockin'?
Will we have another winning streak of eight games this year?
How about another of five games this year?
Three games?
Who will play more minutes, Cobie, Bacote, or Kessinger?
Has the panther EVER been indigenous to the region of northern Iowa?

Lansing is 11-7 against UNI and 4-5 at Cedar Falls. That is pretty damn good in my eyes since they've been a top Valley team since he got the job.

If we want to start winning back the casual fans these are the types of games we need to start winning, the moral victories are great, but we need unexpected, actual victories, then maybe casual fans will come out Saturday against Illinois State

I swear when I read this I thought I was on the staff game thread. I was able to think to myself "im not really sure the staff bball games are going to affect attendance" before I realized where I was.
