But how many people in here have made a monetary contribution to the Indiana State football program? Or to any of the school's athletic programs?

From what I understand, giving from former football players is up. Several former players have reportedly made sizeable donations in the past few weeks. I even heard that an ISU professor with no background in athletics and his wife have made a donation.

Money is the lifeblood of any collegiate athletic program. And, yes, before I get any nasty responses from people berating me for bringing the subject up, I know what the state of the economy is.

But I was just wondering if anybody here actually made a donation.

Once I sell all of my sycamorerunner.com shirts I will be making a decent contribution to the track and cross country programs...

I just bought and Indiana State Sycamores license plate - thus I paid more for that.

I am also a varsity club member.

Considering I just graduated, this is about all I can give at this point in time...

Morgan...that is good.....

You not only talk a good game...like me...but you also do good things...like me also....by the way...you got any shirts 3x or 4x????.......lol........

But remember folks.....

buying a license plate.....or joining the SVC doesn't mean that your particular sport is getting money from your giving....if you designate your donations for your particular sport, then the chances of that sport getting the money is greatly increased.......

I have not this season, nor in the past few years...am considering joining the Varsity Club and I will not be designating my donation to a particular sport -- I want them all to win.

I'm still mulling over my contribution to the March On! Campaign as it will be the majority of my donation this year and/or next. Financially, I've reached a position that I could a sizable (for me!) donation; I just can't decide to go the estate planning route or a multi-year plan. I'm also struggling w/ how much control 'designation' I retain / relinquish to State.

4Q...any way that you want to give is fine.....

But many former athletes want to give specificially to the sport that they played at ISU...you can give to the general athletic department fund and allow the athletic department to decide how the money is spent...either way is fine.....

The only reason that I brought this topic up is that people always want the athletic department to do this or to do that. But then they don't back their wants with their pocketbooks. lol

Budgets are tight throughout the athletic department, so any outside donations definitely help.....if we depend on the university to dole out the monies from their limited budgets, then things will be tough to get.....

so any help is great!!!!!!

Sure and that's understandable and acceptable; for instance, if LB wanted to donate the $$$ to buy an Embraer RJ-135 http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/content/travel/inflight/aircraft/erj135.aspx

and say it's for the MBB use only, I would not have a problem with that; if Tunch Ilkin and Vencie Glenn and John Bock want to pool their $$$ and buy an Embraer RJ-190 for the football team; again no problem.

Obviously, some common revenue sharing amongst teams within the dept is necessary but donations...

New Sycamore Fan:

That is a very nice gesture on your behalf and your wife's. Let's hope you have to dole out $3K this year, $5K next year and $7K in 2011. Might you need to find a part-time job?
