I live in the area where they captured the black bear last year (northern indiana), it was actually spotted only a mile or so from my house. But anyways, they (DNR) ended up killing the animal and created a pretty big outrage up here. Hopefully they either let this one roam around (it is a wild animal) like it is or they relocate it before more extreme measures are taken.

The issue with "letting them roam around..." they become 'dangerous' nuisances... remember, we live in a world so ignorant of wildlife, you have tools 'rescuing' bison calves WITHIN YELLOWSTONE because it's all of ~50 degrees...

I doubt MOST of Southern Indiana is prepared to 'bear proof' the homes, yards, outbuildings, etc

Life will REALLY becoming interesting when the cougars/pumas/catamounts return to Indiana...
