I found the quotes from Lansing interesting. A little more info there than I would have expected.

Sounds like from landings quotes, Etherington was read the handwriting on the wall. Not much him deciding doesn't sound like. A little off subject but NCAA needs to clamp down on this transfer stuff, getting a little out of hand for everyone.

Clamping down would be a violation of person freedom.

That begs the question though, who would they be clamping down on? In this case it would be the university. It's come up for discussion many times here, should players on scholarship be locked in for four years or should schools have the right to cut them?

The chicken or the egg? Do you have the right to fire a non-productive member of your work team or one that does not meet your expectations? Can you be fired from your work place for the same reasons. Don't argue that it is not the same as a job as the coaches job depends on his players just as an employer depends on you.

I agree, but if schools are free to cut players who don't perform up to expectations, should schools be able to prevent players from transferring? If you have an opportunity to leave your employer for a better job, you can leave. Don't argue that it's not a job, people have a right to pursue better opportunities, right?

Certainly not. IMO, those coaches that only let kids transfer certain places are reprehensible.

Soooo.....based on what I've read in the TribStar and on GoSycamores, it sounds like Tre wanted to be closer to home due to his ill grandmother and that Etherington was let go based on coach's decision. Is that what others thinking? OR am I just off-base/wrong?

I believe they were both coach's decision.
