Surprised that not more Sycamores are playing in the Prospect League on teams other than the Rex? See that other college teams have players on more than one team in the league.

Ask and you shall receive. We were just talking about this the other day! Just an FYI, Petricka is not on the Mankato Moondogs roster. Ferrell won't be on any roster either as he was a senior this season. Ort may miss some significant time this summer as well, as his wrist is worse than first thought.

I also wanted to mention that I hope ISU is taking notes. I drove by the stadium about 5 and that place looks awesome. They have put Rex signs up on the outer wall around the stadium, a sign on third street that says Rex on top and underneath says game tonight with the time. The temporary bleachers look awesome, they have tables with umbrellas down the right field line, they have painted the outfield fence blue and put up the big advertisement signs....I will try and get some pictures tonight.(if it doesn't get rained out!)

Also, if anyone in the area isn't busy the next 2 months or so, get out and watch the Legion team, Post 346. They will be loaded this year. They have 16 players and all of them have the abillity to play collegiately. Some have already signed(or will be attending a college next year) like Hayes to Ohio St., Wampler to ISU, Fulkerson to Holy Cross, Collett to Rose-Hulman, Dove and Mason to Olney, Eberle is already at Lincoln Trail and of course Reed who is only a junior but has his choice of school. Even the other 8 have options or another year in high school.

I had heard that even though Ferrell was a graduating senior, he was still playing some brand of Summer Ball. He's not ready to call it a career yet.

As for Ort, any diagnosis? Surgery required? If so, it should be sooner than later to have his wrist at full strength for next season.

Aside from MiLB and the independent leagues; what other options remain?

Jacob Weinzapfel – Owensboro Oilers – .238 (5-21), 7 R, 2 2B, 0 3B, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 8 BB, 1 SB

Bryan Chestnut, Blake Drake, Ben Ferrell, Brandon Flora and Jordan Pearson are all playing out in the Walter Johnson Baseball League in Kansas, but their site is horrible and doesn’t have stats or anything from this season.

Perhaps Ort has not yet addressed his wrist injury. He should refrain from further damage-causing repetitive use and get the proper medical treatment. Now is the time to do it so that he is ready for next season.
