I had a chance to take a quick tour after the Saturday evening practice and the area looks first class. From what I understand the workers still have to lay the permanent carpet (the one with the Sycamore logo inlaid) and add a few additional touches (e.g. a couple of couches). There is definately a big school feel to the new digs.

The locker room and new turf will also help recruiting. Before I get jumped on again (like I did for saying that the "money games" help recruiting), I can say that Western Illinois' locker room almost made the difference in my son's decision of schools. It helps that the players can take pride in the place they call "home" for much of their college life.

That will be sharp... The handful of upperclassmen we have left REALLY deserve this and I'm happy for them.

I also got a chance to take a peek at the new facilities and they are amazing. I was there when the players first got to move in and they were all excited. I heard a couple players, jokingly cheering about taking a shower in the new showers. It really looks great though. Those guys deserve it.

Facilites are very important to potential recruits. Look at Oregon's facility and how they market it when recruiting. I'm glad to see State is finally doing things off the field to enhance the visibility and viability of the program.

When our players walk in through the new entrance, they will actually feel like they play Division I football.

Thanks Ron Prettyman and Staff! It's 15 years overdue.
