Seriously, has ANYONE heard anything about us playing Quincy again, until this "conversation" tonight? I was under the impression that our series was OVER with them. I wouldn't worry too much about a tweet or two unless someone knows more info. It has obviously proven to be a bad decision or at least detrimental to our ratings, RPI's etc. I may be missing some key info on the renewal of the contract but I know I was told once that their series was DONE. If anyone else knows something, how about spelling it out for us. I could care less about a tweet some media-type was hashing around.

Wow. With two FBS games next year, assuming a loss in both, we'd darn near have to run the table to even get consideration for a playoff spot. I hope that this isn't true. A lot...

I heard somewhere and it may have been speculation or rumor, that D2 wins wouldnt be as negative in the playoff selection when they expand to 24 teams. I think Quincy would have to have a pretty good season for it to help

It's the Quincy TV sports guy. I'm pretty sure he is credible.

I think I'd rather play them in 2013 than 2014 with the thought that we then get them off the schedule. With a new coach coming in, I don't know what to expect from this team this coming year. We'll have a lot of turnover on defense with so many great players graduating and the offense needs some serious work, hopefully the new coach can introduce a system that will be effective from day one, but that might not be realistic. Add to that playing two FBS schools in the same year (something that shouldn't happen again) and it's going to be up hill battle before the season even starts.

Why not, it helps with recruiting and attendance. Oh that's right, we don't want that.

Expectations for 2013 should be extremely high. Yes we're losing some excellent young men, but we saw some impressive young talent this year. Schedule might be tougher next year but this should be a better team...new coach or not...no excuses.

Recruiting possibly, attendance no. It would be interesting to see where the diminishing marginal returns is in terms of recruiting. For example, of all of the prospects we've been recruiting in 2013, only one that attended the IU game is committed to us -- linebacker Jordan Jackson. But let's be honest... we're playing both simply for the paydays. I'd imagine we'll make between $500-$750k for the pair of games.

I'm with you here especially with the fact that it appears to be the game following the two FBS games. If we happen to have anyone dinged up, odds are we can get them some rest before heading into the conference slate.

I don't know how it improves attendance. Why not play another non-conference home game like we did this year with Drake? That improves attendance and it's another winnable game. Losing to Purdue and Indiana in the same year isn't going to improve attendance. Beating them both might, but that's a very tall order.

My question and i dont know the answer......Do we make money off a game that 6,000 people attend? I dont know how many people have to actually work that wouldnt otherwise. I know the officials probably cost between $7,000 and $12,000. Extra police, ticket workers ect. If we play a team such as EIU (i know that aint happening soon) we will loose a home game every other year. So, if we make a reasonable amount of money by playing a team that we pay to play us then I guess we will have to deal with it much like we will have to likely take $450,000 beatings ourselves (Yes i would love to win one). If we loose money then id rather have a home-home against an OVC school or some school that I could drive to watch when we visit (EIU, SEMO, Murray)

If they don't want to play in 2013 as contracted then let's just cancel the contract and take it as a bye week. I would rather sit at home and let the guys heal from two beat downs than play a game, and possibly lose somebody for the season, that won't help us in the long run.

I agree with your reasoning. Guys still get banged up and it doesn't count toward the post-season. On the other hand that would just leave us with four home games, which stinks, but it happened before during the miserable Lou West era. Of course back then there wasn't much point in going to the games either.

Why would we have to sit at home? Why not get a contract with a decent FCS team, like an EIU or someone like that (doesn't have to be them, names are escaping me at the moment). It's not like we aren't viewed as a good game nowadays. If we have to have a game that doesn't get us to 7 D-I wins, I'd rather lose to a good FCS team than beat Quincy...
