according to Rovell's twitter account...his candidates to play Bird are....

Actors who should play Bird: Michael Rapaport, Alex Winter or Barry Pepper.

and his candidates to play Magic....

Magic candidates: Mykelti Williamson, Forest Whitaker, Dennis Haysbert or Dule Hill.

Actors who should play Bird: Michael Rapaport, Alex Winter or Barry Pepper.

Does Rovell know that A. Winter is 5' 7" or that B. Pepper is 5' 10"?

Rapaport is 6' 4"....

As long as the actor cast as Magic is proportional to the actor cast as Larry, it shouldn't matter but on stage it's harder to hide height...

When Billy Crystal cast Anthony Michael Hall as Whitey Ford in 61*; they filmed him pitching right-handed (Ford was a southpaw) with a reversed jersey number. That's easy to do with film...

Dule Hill would be the worst Magic Johnson ever lol...I can imagine his thoughts, "ok I just need to find a bald black guy" I love Dule but not sure if this is the right fit for a skinny kid lol

wow...that is either going to be "really good" or "really bad". But, the good news is that if it goes over well, they will end up making a movie which means that filming will occur in the Haute....!!!

Is it just me, or can you just picture Bird and Magic donning coat and tails singing, "oh we're the boys of chorus, we hope you like our show, we know you're rooting for us, but now we have to gooooooooooooo"

Honestly, this sounds like a train wreck waiting to happen...

Any Larry Bird fans on this board?

I'm kidding, I'm kidding, . . .

This may interest you though I have to warn some posters, this is from the New York Times and I sense that some feel everything that appears in America's most respected and Number One newspaper is suspect or even not worth reading.

A Rivalry Moves Downcourt to Center Stage
By RICHARD SANDOMIR

SOMETHING felt wrong to Magic Johnson when he watched a recent rehearsal of “Magic/Bird,” a new Broadway play about his rivalry turned friendship with Larry Bird, the fellow basketball superstar with whom he is indelibly linked.

Kevin Daniels, who plays Mr. Johnson, was not showing anger as Mr. Johnson would in a scene where the main characters first interact.

“My man wasn’t smiling,” Mr. Johnson recalled during a recent telephone interview. He said he told Mr. Daniels: “I’m the smiling, fun-loving guy, but you’re doing Larry.”

Mr. Johnson said he smiled “even when I wanted to break your neck or kill you.” . . .

Not to start an argument, but i believe the New York Times is now 3rd in subscriptions/readers behind USA Today and the Wall Street Journal. I also doubt that that you would find too many people that would call the New York Times "well respected".
