Here is a quote from Golden's article from Barry Hinson after we beat LIU:
"Classic game, great coach, good players and the poster boy for Amish basketball [Jake Odum], my favorite player in the league," Hinson said. "I love that kid."

Lmao

Ya, and in Odum's spare time, he's a mate aboard a submarine in the latest McDonald's fish commercial:

Let's hope he doesn't surface w/o the Arch Madness trophy...

How symbolic would it be IF ISU wins AND WSU wins WSU would be 33-0... And ironically an ISU win in the finals would make them 33-1 thus propelling us into the tourney. Hey it worked for the football team who fell to 0-33 before winning one. C'mon Larry Legend Luck!

I have been a proponent all season of playing a core group of 7-8 players most of the available minutes to develop more unity & familiarity among that group. Today's game will see if our season-long use of playing 9-10 is strong enough to be a factor? SIU played their three primary producers (Beane, Jackson & Smithpeters) 38-39 minutes each last night in a game not decided until the very end & were still on the floor 3 hrs. later than our Sycamores. Jake Odum played 33 minutes vs Loyola and eight other players played between 15-28 minutes each. Our Sycamores should have a definitive "legs" advantage.

Barry Hinson will play all his cards and most likely lessen our physical advantage & frustrate the hell out of us one way or another. Hang tough Sycamores, keep the defensive pressure on & beat the Hinson curse. DON'T LET THEM HANG AROUND & GET A LAST 2ND SHOT OR AN OFFICIAL'S CALL TO END YOUR QUEST!

I was surprised that Lansing initially "played ISU strengths...BIG" instead of the "normal" matching up according to the opposition. Quite a shift in philosophical approach for him...we'll see what his game plan is TODAY against a similar smaller squad (although far more efficient backcourt).

In '79 in Salt Lake City the Michigan State fans were chanting before the game "33 and 1" ....."33 and 1" ......................

I think the ISU folks in St. Louis on Sunday (if we and WSU both get there) should start the same chant.

No fear over in Saluki land about tomorrow's game.

If we play "Barry Ball" tomorrow we lose. If we play "Sycamore Ball" we win.

They're playing on house money.

If our guys come out and play defense today like they did last night, they're going to have to match to keep it close. We absolutely smothered Loyola. They weren't getting good looks and not getting shots until 2-3 seconds left on the clock in most cases.

Hearing Gant might be out. Anyone know for sure?

That would be a huge loss if so. I did notice that he wasn't sitting with the team last night during the UNI/SIU game. The team came out and watched some of the first half and I didn't see Gant.

What's the word on why he's not playing, if true?

Here's an observation....the team was in the stands watching the NIU SIU game ...when they walked out, Gant was moving like he either needed crutches, or a walker. He really looked uncomfortable, and hurting.

My question is, with the kind of leg, hip, or ankle injuries that he has....why isn't he some where sitting in an ice bath, getting kind of healed up for today's game? If we can't do that, get him back to the hotel room for some kind therapy with the trainers. Let's do something pro-active, to get him ready for today's game besides sitting uncomfortably for an hour, and then a humping a 50 lb backpack to the team bus....
